UPDATE and prices Post #50 http://www.canadiangunnutz.com/forum/showpost.php?p=6982427&postcount=50

Well well well, Still not sure if I go blue or red, but I flip a coin and got a Red head :D

So who sale the cheapest Lock n load AP in Canada or in the States ? what ever is the cheapest. What about the free bullets can we still get them in Canada ?

I saw the vid from our fellow gunnutz and from what I understood Caliber change are easier in the Hornardy. I like to change caliber every 500 rounds or so... :yingyang: I know, why ? cause like too :onCrack:
Dillon on the other hand seems a like real PITA when it's time to do caliber swap.

So I guess hornady suits me better, who know I am just a Lee user ;)

Just want to say that buying a Dillon was the best decision i ever made with advice from my shooting buddies that have over 30 years of reloading....

I think you are mistaken when you say that caliber change in a Dillon is a PITA. Just change the tool head and the base plate if necessary (and sometimes the primer tube if going from large to small primers or vice versa). takes less than 10 min. I currently load for 4 different calibers and its no sweat...

Hey.. everyone to his own.. but i am very happy with my Dillon

RDG

humm interesting ... From the video I saw on youtube it seems way more complicated, but maybe I should add who sales the Cheapest Dillon in Canada or in the States.

I got mine from Budget a few weeks before xmas. lowest price in canada.

As for the free bullets I sent the remittal forms to Hornady the first week of Feb and they showed up today.

And how the press guys ?
did also bought the case feeder ?
Any idea why is it more expensive than the dillon ?

Dont have case feeder (no space) but the press is ace IMHO, not had any problems, except the ones i created.

Also purchased from Henry at Budget Shooter Supply.

Ive been using a loadmaster for the last 2 years and I really love the fact that I dont have to "handle" brass one buy one. The auto brass feed is a must for my next press.

isn't the 550B need special dillon dies ?

Nope the 550 uses standard die's but is a manual indexing press so you need to turn the shell plate by hand every time.

The 650 is automatic, pull handle, set a bullet, pull handle, set a bullet etc etc.

Caliber swaps on the 650 aren't as bad as people make it out to be, I went thru the instructions once for a small primer to large primer changeover now I can do it in under 15min by memory.... Fairly straight forward.

Budget shooter supply has the best deal I have seen online for the LNL AP, for Dillon your better off to shop around... I have seen stores sell the 650 anywhere from $580 to $780 and there were a few posted on the EE around the $700 mark with no case feeder... You can also buy direct from Dillon.

I'd like to chime in too.. the Dillon is also the best purchase I made WRT a progressive reloader. I tried a few of my friend' s reloaders over the years and the Dillon wins...HANDS DOWN. Easiest tool head change etc. Fast, reliable and rock solid.

I have to chime in too.

I have been researching the Hornady LocknLoad Ammo Plant Kit for a couple months now.

For some reason nobody on this site has been quoting prices, well lets get to it.

At first glance the press looked appealing because of the case feeder and the bullet feeder. Nice looking machine +/- $1350.00 USD.

Well get yourself a Hornady catalogue and write out a list of part numbers two pages long that will get you loading 5 calibers.

Add a Hornady Professional Reloaders Kit for $425.00 USD and a Tumbler with stainless pins for $260.00 USD and a nice red scale for $130.00 USD

Add some bullet pullers, lube, cleaner and some nice Hornady brass and bullets and your off to bullet making heaven. Well if you can handle the $4600.00 USD price tag.

Or maybe you'll be like me clunking away on a rock chucker. LOL

.

I have everything to reload 4 different calibers on my loadmaster. I am just hoping to do the same on a different press with no primer feed problem. Getting this at a fair price would be nice.

I only need to figure which one will be cheaper on Caliber change and other accessory. So far Hornady seems more expensive with the Accessory.

Press wise the difference is -+ 150$

15 minutes is "not too bad" ?????

That would make me go back to my Lee Loadmaster......

You do know there is a brand new primer system that just became available for the Loadmaster. Apparently it solves most priming issues.

I also have a full Hornady LnL setup.

I have a hornady lnl ap an I do like it but if I bought again I would go blue. I also believe the blue caliber changes might be more expensive but are much faster and easier then red. If you plan on adding a case feeder go blue I your not go red. If you would like more in depth opinion why feel free to pm me. Henry at budget is excellent to deal with for hornady and if you go dillon I'd order straight from them it's usually cheaper

Why? Just post here. And which flavour of blue are you talking about?

You do realize that Dillon and Hornady use the SAME case feeder....... Case feed plates interchange etc.
