I think I have a timing problem with my S&W .357 Highway Patrolman - in double action it sometimes seems to "lock up" and the cylinder has to be moved ahead by hand...any comments? Also, have people used MD Charlton outside Victoria for S&W gunsmithing/tune-ups?

Part of your problem might have to do with the weight of a loaded large cylinder and when double actioned quickly it has a lot of inertia......

Murray Charlton is a very knowledgable expert on Smith and Wessons. He has been making excellent custom PPC guns for at least 25 years that I know of and is also a warranty station for S & W.

... Firstly, and it's a long shot, has the action already been "tuned" ? If so, and if the problem ONLY occurs during fast DA, it's possible that the rebound spring has been lightened a tad too much, thus the trigger is not always going forward enough to rotate and lock the cylinder. As an aside, "Murray C." has been around S&Ws forever and a day, good work comes out of his shop, highly recommended for quality work. Plus, he's a nice guy ! .... David K.
