McDonalds is way better but since Tim's is closer to work I usually go there to make it there and back without taking too long. My go to coffee a McDonalds is black but at Tim's I need to get a double double to make it drinkable.

Quality of brew aside, the lids at McDonalds are so much better too. Tim's ####ty lids have caused so many spills in my car!

Ok.. I don't know if this has been posted... A few years ago McDonalds bought Tim Hortons coffee supplier out. The coffe at Mcdonalds is now what Timmies was a few years ago. Timmies was forced to find a new supplier.

Tim Hortons has done to the local bakery what MacDonald has done to the local burger joint, I do my best to avoid both and go to a local non franchise coffee shop. When travelling I will choose McDonalds never Tims.

I agree with this posters comments - I have stopped going to Tim Hortins after they reacted negatively to the increase in minimum wage - I do prefer McDee's coffee howver me too when traveling I support the local mom and pops / brother and sister eateries. My money stays local and that makes me feel good.

The supplier is Tims old one but the roast is different! I never liked Tims coffee!

If you are drinking your coffee black Tim Hortons is barely coffee. Although their dark roast is barely acceptable. I think TH is for the heavy cream, heavy sugar (dessert) coffee drinker.
McDonald is considerably better. I do prefer Starbucks as they have different flavors each day. When drinking coffee black, you can really distinguish different tastes among brands.
Exactly, if you add cream and sugar to it, well, you have pudding and I think that's how most folks choke down Tims! Either that or with an apple fritter!

McDonald for several reasons.
1. Senior coffee 1.10 free refills
2. Save 7 stickers off cup and you get a 3.50 latte etc free.
3. Coffee is better.

When people are stupid enough to elect left wing earth muffin governments who think minimum wage hikes of 35% won't create problems then I guess you have to deal with the increase in prices or internal cuts. You can't have one without the other. I laughed and shook my head when this came in. Talk about an instant inflation booster. Nobody with half a brain figures the business will eat the extra cost. Taking away benefits was dumb. Just should have upped the cost based on wage factor.

I love that Tims bashing has become the new "cool" trend in Canada. Almost the way to tell a "real" Canadian from the hosers...

Franchise owners don't have the authority to change the prices so to save costs they had to look elsewhere, they didn't lay anybody off which was the alternative. As you said, expecting business to absorb the extra costs at the loss of profit is foolishness on the part of the government. It's a blatant attempt to buy votes coming into a spring election.

I prefer Tims coffee because I find it more consistent than McDs. It's not amazing, but I'm a double double a day coffee drinker so I don't want the fancy coffee that comes with a story about ethical bean farming to make me feel warm and fuzzy inside.

I'd love to try the Black Rifle stuff, but I'm not enough of a coffee drinker to order it and pay the exchange and customs just to see if it's what I like.

I went to McD's this morning to see what all this hype was about and all I've got to say is "yuck." I'm hoping I just got a bad batch but if not give me Tim's any day. I take mine with one cream if that matters at all and it tasted like burnt plastic.
