I just went through the same dilemna and I went with the Jewell trigger. Both are good triggers but the Jewell just felt that little bit better.

I bought a Jewell HVR trigger last year and can't believe how good it is!
My rifle shot perfectly well with the factory triggger but I wanted the best and this trigger is 10x better than what I expected.

In fact, Jewell triggers are so good that it's the gold standard for benchrest rifle.

I like the Jewel, but for a hunting rig you're probably better off with something less suseptible to dirt. I'm not overly impressed with my Timneys, and would cheerfully use a tuned factory Rem trigger instead.

Shilen is another option to consider. It's not cheaping out to take a 4 by hunting instead of a Ferrari, its more about suitability for purpose.

I'm having a rifle put together though ATRS and i'm putting at Jewel in it. It'll be for precision shooting and also hunting. My buddy hunts with a jewel in his rile and has never had a problem. Though he'll strip it often and keep it clean. Which probably isn't a bad thing to do with your custom rifle. That being said has anyone had any bad experiences with the Jewel out in the field hunting?

I've had the same jewel trigger pile up twice. Once was a pierced primer, and the other was probably sand, I wasn't able to tell. In both cases I was able to get it running again, at home with a phone in one hand. Jewel triggers are a joy to shoot and built like watches. You can hunt with them, but it doesn't take much to stop one and end your day.

Routinely flushing any trigger with lighter fluid during your cleaning process will prevent failure. They are intended to run dry. Dust and debris can build up and cause problems which is easy to prevent.

For your needs a timney would be better then a jewell. I was trying to decide between a timney, jewell, shilen or rifle basix. In the end i went with the Rifle Basix L-1K $150 shipped from the states, They said if i dont like it i can get my money back and they stand by their product. the trigger shoe is similar to the timeny but doesnt have the wide shoe.

A nice dilemma to have, and you cannot go wrong with either.

i find it hard to differentiate between the two in the rifles I have installed them in, they are both quality units and well manufactured.

Go with the one you prefer, and for the next rifle, try the other brand and see which one you prefer.

Candocad.

I just had a rifle put together by ATRS, mainly for hunting and some target shotting on the side. I went with the Timney, I was told it was better suited in the field. I have only had it for a short period of time but worked well in hunting season.
