I bought my very first timney trigger a few months back( i previously only bought Jewel). I recently installed it and noticed the bolt was binding. Upon further inspection I noticed the sear of the timney is too thick and therefore putting too much upward pressure on the bolt. I called Timney and they acknowledged this was not an uncommon problem with their triggers. They're recommended fix is for me to file the sear myself. I shouldn't have to do this and I am not sure I know how much to take off. It would have to be trial and error by taking a little off reinstalling and trying again and again until I get it right and hopefully not too much or I will need a new sear.
In my opnion Timney should have offered to exchange the trigger. A customer shouldn't have to file a sear on a trigger.

I used to run "Timmy" triggers untill i finally accepted that they are junk. Send it back to the dip sh*ts and tell them you regret buying one and your going back to Jewels.

I had the exact same problem. I have bought 4 Timney's and the last one I bought had this problem. I have received no help from the place I bought it from and no help from timney. I guess one bad one out of four is not too bad but given i have received no support from timney themselves I dont think I will buy another one again.

I've had two Timney's and neither one impressed me as being any better than a nicely adjusted stock M700/M70/M77 trigger. I have a Canjar on my trusty 788 and it is awesome. If/when I decide to upgrade the trigger on my Rem 700P I'll probably try a Shilen, because I've only read good things about them.

Good Experience

I had a similar experience with my new trigger. It did not drop in, and the folks at Timney suggested a few things that I could do to get it to work. After none of them worked, they offered to install the parts for me, at no charge. I received a new trigger group in a the mail a few days later.

Ask for "T-Bone" - he should be able to fix you up.

I just installed my first Timney trigger from Mystic Precision. Absolutely love it. Clean, crisp, no creep or overtravel and no problems. Well worth the bucks.
