Well I searched all over and aside from not having a sticky on the subject (to my suprise) there was no topic covering general hunting tips, tricks, etc that people use or have come across. So I think we should all chip in with our 2cents on things that have worked for us, and for different types of hunts.
For my part I suggest throwing out all your scent cover/soap/bags/sprays and use TURPENTINE. Now hold on I know what your thinking, there is logic.
Turpentine (also called spirit of turpentine, oil of turpentine, wood turpentine, gum turpentine, white spirit) is a fluid obtained by the distillation of resin obtained from trees, mainly pine trees.
I have learned that PURE turp works extremly well. A bottle of PURE TURP can be bought from Home Depot or the likes for $5 and will last you many years. The trick to it is that yes it smells but because it evaporates off so heavily it blocks off all your other odors. Soaps/coffee/etc. i use an old bottle of muskol (cleaned out) and take the little top off and fill with Turp put the top back on and you have a conveniant little carrier. Apply a couple of drops to the top of your hat, sleaves, boots, anywhere that will let off odor and your good for about 3hrs. If your sitting longer or you have an animal coming in close and you've been sweating reapply a drop or two and watch them smell nothing but pure PINE OIL.
But dont be an idiot,Turpentine is an organic solvent, and poses many of the same hazards as do other such substances. So use caution if you have bad allergies or sensitive skin(which I have and have never had a problem) It is extremely flammable so don't light up right after.
I promise this is no joke and will save you tons of cash as well as help with your scent. Hope this helps and your not too afraid to try it.
