Tips for loading 9mm, 147 gr & HP-38

Please?

I can't find any reloading data for this combo. HP-38 is the only powder I stock/use for simplicity's sake. I'm looking for standard loads, nothing super fast/hot.
Thanks

Check out the website its on there I use it for years now never change anyting and it works great:rockOn::rockOn::rockOn:

HP 38 is the same powder as Win 231, just a different name. Data for Win 231 will give you identical results.

You should be able to find loads for the powder by googling Winchester's online load manual.

Take Care

I've been loading 135 grn lead for a freind with 4.0 grns of hp38/231 and its a nice accuate load out of his cz75. I would start about 3.2 grns because of the reduced case capacity with the 147 and look for pressure signs. My guess is your load will be about 3.7 grains. SAFTEY NOTE always start low and work up in your gun - all guns are different

PS this is for lead - for jacketed bullets loads i do not have a good starting point as I have never loaded jacketed in 9mm

Ive been loading 3.7 231 @ 1.145 oal and it gives me about 960fps. Very little data for 231 and 147gr jacketed...not supposed to be a good combo I guess, but works quite well for me.

I think you may find a load or two on handload.com?

There is always the possibility that there is a good reason Hogdon doesn't list that powder (powders) and that bullet weight. The bullet weight is popular enough that it is unlikely that they would be ignoring it.
