Have a permit with lots of restrictions. Having a hard time getting close enough to them. Its in a campground and shooting them in the air isnt possable. Not allowed any calls or blinds. Cant shoot towards the lake and thats the first place they head when they get suspicious. They are very cagey and seems theres always a gaurd on the lookout that warns the others while they have heads down eating grass. Also they seem to always put something behind them like a building or electrical box that you have to get around before you can get a safe shot away.

Any ideas?

If they roost on the lake be at the place they graze in the middle of the night. Conceal yourself well and wait. Let them land around you and start to feed then give to them. A tarp roughed up with some background to break up your outline is good. I don't think this would be considered a blind. The rules you have to follow will make this a tough job.

I was named on a permit last year and there was no restriction on the firearm that could be used. Try a light weight frangible bullet from a .22 centerfire rifle.

I was thinking of bringing my 22 wiyh some good hollowpoints. These birds are tough as heck though. I heard some honking the other moring very early. I looked down toward the lake and saw a lone goose staring at me. Thinking that was the one i hesrd i walked to my truck to see if i brought my 22 when i saw a pair standing right in front of my truck. I walked briskly back to the camper to grab my M4. I thought for sure they would be gone by the time i got back but they were still right there. I let them have it but damn it took them a long time to die. The one i shot 4 times all very close range, festhers were flying and it was like the exorcist spinning its head around looking at me.

A well placed shot with a cci sting hollow point should do a good job and let me reachnout and touch them from a little further without the huge boom of a big load 12 gauge.

You can get a permit to kill our geese?

I always thought they were protected...

The permits are very rare and the guy who holds it wants to keep it so we dont want any complaints.
Kamloops city spends 30 grand a year scaring the Canada geese from sports fields. They use a radio comtrol styrofoam fox with propller to chase them around. Its a constant battle and they keep coming back.
The killing method keeps them from returning, ever

Exactly,,, so use a blind and get rid of them. Totally assinine
I'd also be looking for their nests.

The ice just came off the lake and i am allowed to addle the eggs. Next week i will be back to resume my activitlys.

One problem with a blind is the crazy things are not always around. I talked to one guy who waited for hours once and was so frusterated because when they finally came they were to far away for a safe effective shot. The people who write these rules are probably just beaurocrats who dont know squat about culling geese or there activitys,
They wont fly away once they have there young with them.
You just dont want to get seen by any women shooting at the parents with young. Trust me i know.

How close can you get to them on average? The 17HMR is deadly accurate, flat shooting and smokes them with authority out to 100+/- yards. Not too loud either

If you can use rifles that is different. I thought you could only use a shotgun. Yeah a small centrefire or rimfire at the right angle should do the trick.

First thing in am when they come to feed and Hollow point 17 HMR rifle and good scope you can get them out to 200 yards .
Not much noise farther away you are does not seem to bother them much and you can get a pair have done it with permits
