Are you tired of only being able to shoot 100 yards at your local range? Want to get into longer range shooting or at least try it out once or twice? Don't want to go out to some long range event without some practice? Not too keen on going to another range just being another face and stubbling around not really knowing what is going on? Have a huge fear of going to a military range as a civilian? Don't want to keep looking over your shoulder for the police to show up at your bush range?

Fear no more, try coming out to Cedar Springs during one of our practice days. Dates will be posted soon on the ORA web page and here on this thread once the dates for this year are confirmed.

We offer a more relaxed atmosphere than other DND range. We shoot 300m and new this year we will be using electronic targets. This also means that you do not have to take your turn pulling targets in the butts. The normal ORA $45/day guest fee applies plus $20 for the use of the e-targets. If you are an ORA member, only the $20 fee applies. Anyone coming out and paying the guest fee 4 times will become a Basic ORA member (shooting insurance, but no voting rights).

These practice days are whole day events and start at 8 am and finish by 4 pm with a lunch break.

Cedar Springs is located between London and Windsor, not too far from the town of Blenheim, and is about 15 minutes from the 401.

Just to add to my own thread....
We are a small club with about 15 members. Many of these members have shot rifle not only at the club level but also at the Provincial, National and International levels. This is a good opportunity to get some individual coaching without any pressure to compete. And is also a place to build your confidence if you do wish to get into competitive shooting somewhere down the road, or just want to get out to get your bearings before venturing out to some of the larger practices or competitions at other ORA events.

I heard you guys dont shoot on weekends, because someone complained. What's the sched now? I dont see any dates on the ORA website anymore.

The date are on the ORA website. You have to click on the calender section to view the dates for Cedar Springs. We only have a few dates left for the season. They are Friday July 25th 2pm-9pm, Monday August 4th 8am-4pm and Monday September 1st 8am-4pm. These are practice dates. Not 100% if any of the dates are going to turn into a match or not but they could be.

Do I need to own a specific type of rifle for this? I have been interested in this for a while now but I have no idea where to begin. I have no idea why but this has always been something I felt like I had to do.

You can bring out whatever rifle you want, well I should say anything that is centerfire. Big calibers ie, 338 Lapua Mag or 50 BMG are not permitted at Cedar Springs Rifle Range as it does not qualify for the range template. A rifle with Iron Sights or Scope. If you are using a scope rifle, a bi-pod or rest of some sort would be very handy.

Contact Maynard, which is the OP of this thread. He will provide more information for you and answer any questions for may have. Or he might just reply back on this thread. We do have a couple of club rifles that you can try as well. If you are planning on coming out, shoot Maynard an PM and he can arrange to bring out one of our club rifles. When you get out there, you will learn on how the game is played and what other equipment/set up other people are using for this type of rifle sport and have a fun time.

We use a regular DCRA 300 yard/meter target face on a 6ft frame. The nice thing about using e-targets is that you can pick the target face that you want to shoot at. ie 300m ISSF, 300m DCRA, 300m DCRA F-Class.

IIIQBIII, what syxx15 said. If you are in SW Ontario drop me a PM and we will started you in the right direction.
