Well its comming up to that time of year again... I'm keen on harvesting my own christmas tree this year and was looking for a recommendation on a decent spot to do so. Ive got the permit and all that part sorted, so im planning to head into the bush somewhat near or about the lower mainland with my chainsaw and bring one home!

I'm thinking one of the logging roads up towards Squamish or the like, but maybe someone can recommend something? Any info is appreciated, and all the best!

Good tip on the handsaw, makes it a little more tranquill also. Still I'm certain any old back road logging road will do? In addition what type of tree would people recommend?

I am a long way from your area, but would recommend a handsaw rather than a chainsaw. It will add to the fulfillment of the hunt. :)

Too funny!

And the OP said he is "hunting" up a tree on old logging roads so as a road hunter I don't think a handsaw will make the hunt any more fulfilling! The experience is already dowgraded by being a road hunter......so might as well take that tree down with a gas powered saw.:p

Hmmm, sad to say I just walk to the storage closet and pull out the box when I want my tree.... Damn allergies... x2 on the handsaw, and maybe venture a little farther then the side of a road.

Bunch of wiseguys here, eh? :)

The type of tree doesn't really matter. By harvesting it yourself, the odd hole or thin spot in the branches will not bug you anywhere near as much as the ones in the $80 lot trees you usually get.

It's going to look great, and it'll feel even more special when you know that you went out and got it like folks used to.
