AI makes sense if your doing a wildcat, and at that only if you enjoy necking down or up, turning necks (in my case) trimming the parent case, then the fireforming and annealing. I have gotten unreal results in both accuracy & brass life while gaining
an appreciable amount of velocity.
To AI a standard cartridge I agree is moot.

Going to a lighter bullet is always one of the easier ways to make more speed, should it be deemed necessary!

It's not that it's a "problem" IMOP........ it's just a waste of powder.......

I do get guys like you who want to tinker and don't worry about resale value...... I like to tinker as well, but enjoy keeping my rifles in original condition and maintaining their values with the thought that I can pass them down so my kids can continue my hunting adventures...... there really is no right or wrong answer...... just two camps on the subject.....

How is it a waste of powder? Fireforming by wasting bullets, or powder, is silly. I just finished fireforming 100 rounds of 243AI. As it's a hunting rifle, it took me well over three seasons, and I shot many deer with it. Original resale value is just a barrel away. I have many original barrels around, waiting to be pressed into service, if required.
But, alas, you are correct about there being no right or wrong!

There is a reason that it continues to flourish in the face of all of the "latest & greatest..." and for that matter, so do all of it's offspring. Same goes for the .308 family.

While "long and slender with taper" seems to be passe... in reality and in the field, enough is enough... choose the cartridge for the purpose... you don't need to complicate things and needlessly spend money chasing your "improved tail..." unless of course, you just want to... then have at it, without the compulsive need to justify your decision based on imperical evidence. I have come to the personal decision after several trips down that "one-way" street, that it is not worth the hassle.

You're stalking, again, Chuck. Best read what I wrote, and try and tie it to the post it referred to.
Trying to pull an awe inspiring 3 or 4 MOA, 50 shot group at 100 yards, while fireforming brass isn't really for me, especially from a hunting rifle, it didn't seem to stop you any? Wasteful indeed.

I have formed a LOT more than 50 cases in my life. No batch took years. Come on. You and I both know that there is not a single solitary practical advantage to an AI case. There simply isn't.

Pretty funny that you can't comprehend what I did, and why.
You and I both know, and its apparent by your comments, that I know significantly more than you do.
I explained what I did, and why, and also that everyone is free to do what they like. Another concept that seems lost on you.
Again, take it to PM, as this thread also deserves better than what you are offering.

I see you are entertaining the "d!ck measuring" process on this and the other thread... lame, but ok... your the "Hoss" Chuck... nobody else has experience or a valid perspective on these subjects, because you KNOW the truth.
