To build a 10/22 or buy a Tuff-22

I submitted a product suggestion on triggertechs website about a 10/22 trigger earlier in the year. The reply I received basically said it was on their radar. Dont know if they are actually planning on developing one or when it would come to market but if you want a Canadian manufacturer spam them with more product suggestions for 10/22 trigger to give them an idea of potential demand. More demand means more likely it will happen.

Alright, after much deliberation, and forced social distancing. I have decided to have a 10/22 built. I think by far going the TUFF-22 pre packaged is the easiest, it wasn't quite what I wanted. Besides, with all this isolation time, I need something to do... A site sponsor had 10/22's on cheap (<$300), found some butler creek steel feed lip mags for $25 (all with free shipping!), going to pick up a vq extractor, and maybe some other bits.
I'll keep this thread going as to what else happens, we have a plan. Looking forward to sharing it with y'all!
Thanks for all your input, it was very helpful to hear your opinions and experiences.

vq extractor is not mandatory, I bought one 7 years ago and still havent installled it, my 1022 works great with the ruger extractor but got it when it will fail..

I have heard they all will fail, best to have one on hand. By your experiences, I can probably hold off a year or 7 though! Thanks. I'll bump that down the shopping list.

yeah, no rush on the extractor change out. I have a 1022 purchased in the mid eighties, still has the original. I couldn't even begin to guess how many bricks of ammo have been through it

Do yourself a favour and buy an upgraded bolt. It contains all EDM wire cut parts, firing pin and extractor. The firing pin is also pinned to give more consistent strike which translates into more consistent ignition and lower SDs which directly relates to accuracy. The bolt is also radiused making the cycling much smoother and the machining in comparison is night and day in difference. Dlask bolts are awesome and they have a few different models ranging in price from about $129 to $169 depending on the finish. I have them at both ends of the spectrum and cant really see any difference other than eye appeal. The coated one is probably advantageous but I don't have one yet but may need to investigate haha. Good luck

Well the rifle, and magazines have arrived!
I picked up a Hornet Custom Black Max trigger to try, it comes with an extended mag release, and bolt release mod, 2.25lb trigger pull, zero take up, zero creep, zero trigger play.
I'll keep this updated as I decide on more parts.

The machined bolt assembly is absolutely great. I had mine in a bone stock 10/22 once and it made it a lot better. I have the kidd bolts one in black nitride and one in grey. Both work great. And a nicer trigger as well. Those two parts turn a stock 10/22 into a lot nicer of a gun

Can you run 25 round mags in the TUF-22? I’m totally new to this. Almost pulled the trigger on a Thompson TCR the other day until I found out you can’t get the 25 rounds any longer.
