To build or buy, this is my question.

If you want a AI just get it the first time because you will end up with it anyway down the road... ask me how I know.

The AT is a bargin really at 5K, (I know that sounds crazy) its a upgraded AW at 2k less than the AW used ti retail for.

And YES the AT will be both Reliable AND Accurate, it could be argued that the AI's fill this roll better than any other rifle on the market.

Edit: Another consideration is resale(god forbid) The AI will hold it's value pretty well but the jazzed up 700 will always be a 700.

Do you own the AT? If so what caliber?

Pgw, AI, DTA, TRG, MRAd, I'd like to see a thread comparing all of these made by some lucky bugger that owns all of em.

I can come up with 3 of the 5. :)

Are you losing much in the AE (Accuracy Enforcer) instead of the AW? That's what I have and I always feel I'm missing out. It was replaced by the AT I think.

Well I wouldn't use it as a pry bar but a chin-up or two should not hurt it. In all seriousness the only practical difference would be your magazine sticks down lower since it is a single stack. On an AE check the torque on your action screws once in a while, other than that you have the same bolt and trigger.

The reason for the bonded versions like the AW was it was designed to survive a fall from a helicopter (which is why they have iron sights as well because the chances of the scope surviving that are slim).

Parts are and will still be made for them as AI will continue to support the older models with parts and service. FYI an AW or AT barrel will thread right onto your AE if you ever wanted to swap to a 6.5 or 6mm cal. You just need the action wrench and a barrel vise.

I have the AXMC in 308, picking up a 6mm barrel of some sort down the road. The AXMC and the AT are the same barrelled action, just the AXMC has a railed forend and more adjustability in the buttstock, identical rifles as far as accuracy and reliability go. First group I shot out of my AI was 0.150" at 100yds, this was shots 5-9 from the rifle off a bipod and tab rear bag.

Is the AT bonded like the AW?

You want the at.
There's huge value in being able to order a higher quality barrel, in a better caliber like 6 or 6.5mm and slapping it on yourself.
The factory ai barrels are good, but our southern neighbours report that the aftermarket barrels for the at are giving even better accuracy.

Is the AT bonded like the AW?

Yes. The AW, AX and AT are all essentially the same receiver and are all attached to the chassis in the same way. The receiver is very wide and completely flat on the bottom with a full width recoil lug. It has four action screws, two front and two rear (side by side). The receiver is permanently glued to the chassis. There is a small gap milled into the top of the chassis along its length where the receiver sits. This space is occupied by the glue when the rifle gets bonded (visible in the pics).

I have read this thread with great interest over the last couple of days. Great to hear of all the positive feedback on the AI rifles.
I would just like to clarify that the AX only comes in .308 (small tenon) and the AXMC (multi-caliber, large tenon) is in .338LM or 300WM. The AX and AT have interchangeable barrels but the AXMC does not swap with the AT.

Well thank you very much for the info. I was having a slight cold bore POI shift so I will get a better (as in not Mastercraft) torque wrench amd check those screws.

I think that this thread sold me on an aiat vs PGW coyote. That and lack of left hand model in the coyote. Oh and wolverine has a lefty in 308 od green in stock. Maybe in the new year......

Do you guys offer the AIAT with thumbhole stocksides?

Only the pistol grip version. Just sold the last AT in stock this morning I am afraid. To get on the back order list, just send an e-mail or call. Be aware that the 2016 pricing is expected to rise due to the weak Canadian dollar. Maybe time to take advantage of the 2015 AX pricing on the models left in stock.

Are the stocksides orderable as a separate item from the rifle? Estimated back order wait?
Thanks

Not sure about thumbhole stocksides from AI. I will enquire and post back here if AI are not on Christmas hols yet.
Delivery 3 months min if not on order already

Wolverine guy

Do you have an AI AT left hand in stock? How much $$ would it be for a 6.5x47 barrel conversion?

Edit; I guess not! The AT's that were on the website this morning seem to have vanished. Who's the lucky b@ast@rd that got the left hand AT?

Update,
just checking physical inventory here and found an AT that had not had the data entry done to send it to the website. Should be there now. 1 only, AI-AT 308, 24" plain barrel, folding stock in ODG. First come first served. Last at 2015 pricing.

Left hand models are only made every couple of years I am afraid and we are sold out at this time.
