To crimp or not to crimp...

Have a buddy that was working up load's in a 35 Whelan. When he found the most accurate one he was happy. For the hell of it he made up 20 round's with that load, 10 were crimped and 10 were not.
When he shot over the crony at a target the crimped load's were a touch bigger but they were doing 100 fps faster.
Everything was the same, just the crimp differance.
 
You can also experiment with the neck tension, via buying extra sizing buttons. You can either buy them in the size you want, or turn them down to size. Just make sure you chamfer the case mouths. Only round I have bothered to crimp so far is my 450/400NE. And I will try some with a .002 and a .003 tension level in the near future. Crimping is a pain, insofar as trimming all cases to the same length goes. If it works as well as crimping, fine, if it doesn't, back to crimping that round.
