To cut, or not to cut, that is the question.

I'd leave it just because I do well at 500 meters even with a 2.75 Burris IER scope at it's original barrel length at Service Condition Matches. It's about performance. A few more inches of bore really helps at long ranges. BTW, I'm still using the chu-wood :D.

Making a barrel shorter doesn't necessarily make it less accurate. In fact a barrel can be more accurate after its been shortened.

Yep, I have been told countless times that accuracy does NOT change, velocity does. The 308 is a big cartridge, I wouldn't worry about velocity issues when taking off a couple of inches.
