To cut or not to cut???

Cut away. I love the way my T3 in 3006 turned out. Barrel measures in at 19 1/8" to the end of the brake. Nordic muzzle brake was reamed out from 223 dia that was a take off from an STI AR and re fitted. Stippling and bolt knob was done by me. Never weighed it as I already know it is light and handy. Just gotta wait for deer season to come around now to try it out. Bark is worse than the bite.

With the brake you have the equivalent of a 22 inch barrel as far as handling and balance goes. Nice looking rifle, but not the same as an 18" or 20" carbine.

Trs 25 are quite green in low light situations fwiw. Had one on my ruger scout and found it hard to see let alone humanly aim out past 70 yards in low light, which was a moot point for me as my shots are 0-20 max 99% of the time. Just be aware if you do t already own one.

Yes!....... So should buddy cut his tikka or what?..... Lol

My go to dogging rifles as 1 is never enough. .lol
Ruger 1967 44Mag Semi auto
Ruger Mini 6.8 SPC
Marlin 45-70 Guide Gun
Marlin 444P
Finnlight 308

If your a bolt guy.
look for a model 7 in 308 or 7mm-08
Or Ruger a Ultralight.
Finnlights a nice too.
So many choices.
I would not cut the barrel but thats just me.
Good luck with what ever you decide on.👍

I apologize for being intensely irritating, but...why not leave the barrel long, take the savings, and buy a good condition Lee Enfield for a bit more money? By my figuring, bush hunting means brush and dents. So you could leave the Tikka for long shots and etc, and use the Enfield for brush, where pinpoint accuracy doesn't count as much but rate of fire does? If you cut the Tikka to me it'd be a bit like cutting off three fingers to save weight on a hike. You'd end up with lower ballistics, higher cost, and no practical advantage.

Course it's not always about what's practical.

I find cutting off even 4 inches doesn't actually make much of a practical and noticeable difference. I have rifles with 25" and 20" barrels, it's more the balance of the rifle and the scope that seem to affect the handling in thick bush. You already have a bunch of barrel hanging out with even a 18" barrel, so realistically I'd save the $ and just spend it on more ammo and gas for hunting.

Keep your .06 and get a Ruger compact wood stock and it comes with 16 inch .308 barrel all ya need !

look for one of these.
