Hi, I just unboxed and put together my new MDT XRS chassis for my Bergara b14 ridge. Stock fit perfectly, but for some reason my MDT made magazine that I have for my bergara b14 HMR will not fit. It seems the magazine well is way to small. I used force, and leverage. I googled it, and it's supposed to be a tight fit. What am I doing wrong? Any help or advice is appreciated greatly

I have a XRS, but for a Tikka in 6.5 creed. My 2.95" binderless MDT mags aren't very tight in the chassis.

Almost sounds like you have an XRS made for a 223, and not a standard short action (308).

I can't remember the exact MDT chassis it was, but I had a lot of trouble with mag seating and feeding with a Rem 700 in an MDT chassis. The system easily jammed so you had to be careful. Long gone now as I wasn't sure what else I could do to fix the problem? MDT advised that no extra fitting was required.

I’ve had to file down a couple of the MDT mags. They were the 223 not the 308, but I believe the bodies are the same. For me they wouldn’t fit in Savage factory AI bottom metal. The Savage bottom metal doesn’t like the 223 Magpul mags either.

Brain fart, dont know why I said 223 when I was thinking 22lr. Not sure if the CZ rimfire chassis have the same size magwell as a 700, but wonder if there was an accidental mixup during inletting.

Being a few mm too small isn't right. You should contact MDT

You have a proper short action aics magazine and not some mambamag or long action aics magazine right? Pictures/video might help us figure it out. - Save you shipping it back to mdt if it is something simple.
cz rimfire actions take a tiny magazine compared to the centerfires

I dropped a rem700 in 223 into a xrs with magpul & mdt magazines without issue

CZ rimfire mags are tiny, but the chassis I've seen/own still have a short action AICS sized magwells.
I don't know if MDT fully machines their magwells out, but the KRG Bravo for my 457 is.

OP - is your mag AICS or AW? I only run AICS mags, but was under the impression that AW mags are slightly longer than AICS.

Post some pics, that will help a lot us to assist. Regardless MDT will get you sorted out. I picked up and XRS for may Savage 110 and some of the metal/poly mags and they fit with no issues.

MDT will absolutely take care of you.

I have early gen 12rds mags and they varied in size. larger vs current manf. Not much but in a magwell, easy to tell. I have modified my magwells to suit as they run just fine.

If you can get current gen mags, then all will fit without mods.

Easy problem to resolve.
