As for the original poster, throwing that roast in the bush would be (should be) considered wasting game meat; a wildlife offence in most places. If you have vacuum packed it and there is little / no freezer burn it is just fine. Enjoy your roast. I have eaten properly frozen meat that is that old and enjoyed every yummy bite!

Trim it up and it`ll be fine.
By the way.....Real men don`t say YUMMY.

This has turned out to be kinda funny.
Asking hunters if game meat that's been in the freezer a long time should be tossed, is kinda like asking everyone else on this site if maybe we should keep the gun registry.

Well, pepperette like sausage is done........
Problem is is says to let sausages sit for 24 hours.
Is it a problem to start eating them now. 12 of the 24 hours to go yet.

They are yummy yummy yummy.
Although the "hot" mix is not really hot. Glad I added extra pepper and chillie powder. Will have to add more next time to get the proper zing and to get a little schwitz going......

Haha! 1983! I've had 4 huge bags i've been picking at in the freezer for over 3 years (3.5 years old now.) and I thought I was being reckless putting them in my pancake mix. Sweet!

I don't eat meat that's been in there longer than a year. Regardless of packaging. It always tastes bad to me. Pork, beef or venison. If it's in there too long, it gets tossed.

I don't know about you guys but venison never lasts more than a year in my freezer.... Ate 3 deer this past year between the gf and I. As long as it's not freezer burned I'm sure it'd be ok eating though....
