To NEA or not?

I built mine from parts (upper, lower, bolt, gas block and tube are NEA) and most of the rest off the EE, also for well under $1k as someone else stated. Only a few hundred rounds through it, but no problems so far... I'm not to worried, seems that pretty well anyone who has posted on here about any problems NEA has had it fixed/replaced with decent customer service.

if you read reviews of even 'higher end' expensive rifles they have problems too. I'd bet there are just less posts about it on here because they are embarrassed about paying $3000 for 'high end elitist' AR and it still had some sort of problem.

some of us do post about our 3500$ embarassments

I agree 100% BUT can you tell us who's that is? I don't think there is a 'product' manufactured by human beings on the planet that someone hasn't had a problem with...

There is a difference between flat out never having a problem, and very rarely having problems. NEA is in the frequently having problems category.

I would never buy a product from a company with that kind of track record, especially a gun.

It's a shame that most of the NEA failures threads got deleted over the years.

Juste buy a NEA 14.5 seconde Generation on CGN exchange,,, Go to the range today and she run very well shoot 160 rounds today whitout any probleme!
Very happy of my new rifle!

So I am getting my RPAL in next few days (provided Can Post doesn't strike) and I am looking for my first AR-15. I like the idea of a Canadian made AR-15 that isn't multiple grand to buy. Are the newer gen models up to snuff, as I have seen that the older gens were prone to some issues?

Please don't turn this into a bashing thread. If this brand isn't currently reliable instead of starting "drama" please just recommend another rifle in the $1300 range.

Someone mentioned buying a cheap ar for your first ar. I wouldn't do that. Once you upgrade, you are behind what you would have spent if you just bought the one you wanted.

I have a stag 3g. Bought it when the dollar was good. Great rifle. It is a match rifle though, so the lack of chrome lining makes it tough to clean; but it is super accurate for an ar. I spent at least an hour cleaning it last night, and there were still tiny bits of copper in the barrel.

The stag 3g, or any ar with a non-chrome lined match barrel, is awesome. I can get one moa out of it, with good loads. At our last club 3 gun match, I cleaned house on the 100m and 200m targets. Won the stage overall out of tactical and open divisions.

The stag 3g is hard to find now, since stag went out of business because they had a bunch of full-auto rifles without paperwork. But any ar-rifle that has a good trigger (geiselle is awesome), free floated barrel with a good handguard, and something better than a stock mil-spec stock, are the things that I would recommend that you look for. But I like accurate rifles. Not everyone wants the most accurate ar.

There are better choices out there that don't have such a negative history. Would probably get better resale value from something else too. Lots of good options out there that are easy to come by, Bushmaster, Windham Weaponry, Daniel Defense, colt, stag, spikes, vltor, bcm the list goes on and on.

2 DD's. Mk18, 3000 rounds, maybe 1 cleaning, no failures. Same with my DDm4v2. I purchased the v2 separately, bought a DD lower for a few hundred and the upper for 600$, all in 1100. There are deals if you look.
