I know of 2 cases where guys were shot while riding quads hunting, must be hard to see the orange when your behind the handle bars

We also have manditory headlights on on all vehicles here in NB. It has probably saved a life or two, but I'm not bothering to quote any studies to back that up.

One more reason we can't prove it's usefulness- lack of incidents involving peopel that were or were not wearing blaze..

I've read on a few forums over the years, how a hunter chastised his buddy for not wearing his blaze. The story usually goes like this:
I saw movement through the bushes, and got ready, this could be a deer. I got my rifle up and had it aimed at the movement, which was getting nearer and would soon step out onto the trail. My finger trigger took up the slack and then the bush parted.
Out popped my hunting buddy! I flew into a rage because he wasn't wearing his blaze,and because of that I almost shot him!

My point exactly. I'm glad you brought that up. There are idiots out there, and if you know you will be running into them, wear orange and survive.
I have one acquaintance that was shot dead and misidentified as a turkey when he went for a #### in the woods off a main lake around Montreal.
I have three other friends from over the years, each in different circumstances, that died drowned because they weren't wearing a life jacket when they were out fishing: One a childhood friend and neighbor, one a moose hunting buddy, and another a business friend and delivery man for my company. So yeah safety is a big deal for me. I know life jackets have jack to do with wearing orange, but it's all part of the overall approach one should consider in less than ideal circumstances. No one goes out in the morning thinking some jacka@@ is going to pop them because he saw movement and it looked lke a dear, bear, or sasquatch

Orange means human or belongs to human (like my dog wearing orange) and don't shoot.If you mainly sit still for hours on end, chances are no one will even see you or know you are there if you are not wearing orange. If you move around a lot in brush or dense undergrowth in known highly hunted public land, I'd wear it even if it wasn't the law. I just don't trust every lacky I meet just because he's a hunter like myself.

Okay even though the pics look a tad oversaturated to my eye - nonetheless I placed 10 blaze orange & 10 mossy oak icons within the frame. Ask any grade 1 'special needs' class which color stands out the most and it will all be the same unanimous answer methinks.

I sit still, move around, hunt through thick stuff, etc etc. I'm not concerned, since I am more likely to be struck by lightning, orange or not.
