To Orange or not to orange?

I changed my mind on the pack color. This is as orange as I'm getting this year.

What does Alberta require I was just invited to go whitetail deer hunting in the Vegreville area and just maybe able to go.

Going to take my 270 Weatherby loaded with 140gr TSX @ 3300fps if I do.

Every year we hear about hunting accidents. I respect everyone's choices, but when you go hunting into the woods without orange, you really are entrusting total strangers with your life.

And to think that some guys on CGN say that they wear body armor at the range because they don't feel safe.

Ya well Jimmy wore orange, hunted with trusted friends and look where that got him. :sniper:

orange doesn't help when your friends shoot at noises in the bush after dark....

I must say though...I do feel more comfortable in Ontario woods with a dash of orange across my ensemble  its the latest rage in Germany

The orange won't protect you from people who shoot at noises, or movement in thick brush. Nothing except body armour would I suppose. I think it is a matter of common sense that one would be as visable as possible if on the move. If still hunting or in a stand I don't think it makes much difference what you wear. If you think cameo makes you invisible and safe its OK with me.

The ONLY thing that MIGHT work when hunting in areas with ORANGE MIND-NUMBED hunters, is to carry a VERY, VERY BRIGHT FLASHLIGHT and have the ####ing thing on, any time you walk in low light conditions. Going to stand, leaving stand.

I always carry a blaze orange hat in my pack. I have saved my life by waving this at MORONS, that were lining up to shoot at me... at least that's what the one RETARD said...

I make a point to hunt in remote country only. I am always in full camo, colored for whatever the conditions dictate.
As much as possible though, I hunt in places where nobody else ever goes.

I hide any time I do see other hunters. They never know I am there... usually road hunters cruising slowly through...

If I drive to ANY location and other vehicles are there I LEAVE and seek solitude.

Pity Jimmy...

Go to the $ store...most sell little blinking red lights (for walking).

I hunt PRIVATE property, and still wear that blinking light every time I'm walking in the bush in low light conditions. :)

I wear it when I go to Manitoba for my anual deer/hunt-hang out with Dad trip. I've never seen evidence that it makes any difference to the deer. Last year I had a good size doe walk to within 10 yards of me leaning against a tree in full veiw of her. She was actually walking away from me downwind when she caught my scent and turned around for another look.

I don't wear it up here though. Of course, we are not quite as congested in the bush as you folks are......
