What is the consensus on the I I shnubel barrel? End goal is for a cz 457 long range setup. Current barrel is quite good but as always when trying for pop can accuracy at 300 it could be tighter. The shnubel only comes in 22 inch which I can deal with

The shnuble (or shnooble) barrel profile appears to have a wider section near the muzzle (see the bottom two barrel profiles below). The purpose of the wider diameter of the final 2-3" of the barrel doesn't seem clear. Below are IBI barrel profiles, including the one in question, for the CZ 455/457. The same profiles are available for the Tikka T1X and perhaps others.

In some categories of BR shooting tuners are not allowed. What some shooters do is use barrels with what's called an "integral tuner" machined right in the barrel. The IBI shnuble (shnooble) is unlikely to be meant to act as a tuner.

I have heard the shnuble (shnooble) compared to the muzzle swell found on Anschutz 19xx match barrels, which raises the dovetails for a front globe when the rifle is shot with aperture sights. The IBI feature is not dovetailed or otherwise configured for use with a front globe and in any case is too short a barrel for position-style (Olympic) shooting.

It will be interesting to learn the purpose of the shnuble (shnooble) barrel.

Odd they also spell shnuble and also shnooble on the same website,

... That's because there is no such thing... they are making up words... likely another noob trying to suggest that the barrel is for a full stock or "Schnabel" rifle. If it were a running boar design, the flair at the end is intended to provide a forward mass to smooth out swinging on moving targets and also (theoretically) provides a "choke" at the muzzle to "improve" accuracy.

I wonder if it is a small attempt to copy the anshutz as above in grunhanens pic. Or the running boar as you mention the extra 2 inches will definitely add some forward weight to stabilize and in my prone project it would help

Running Boar rifles such as the Anschutz 1408 EDS or the similar 1808 EDS and the Walther Running Boar models have removable barrel weights that would add substantially more weight to the muzzle end of the rifle than the relatively slight (0.065") swell on the IBI barrel.

As Hoytcannon observes, there's a curiosity about the name shnuble (or scnooble) -- or "Olympic Shnuble" as the IBI website has it. It's possible the word is made up.

I got a an answer from them today and it seems it is to constrict the muzzle and keep it tighter from heat, their recommendation was to get the Schubert. And he did respond that they have called it many things. Judging by the thread just started they work quite well. Thanks shooter1971
