I have not yet decided what to do with my STI GP6. I'm going to the indoor range with some IPSC people Thursday night and I'm thinking about shooting it. I think if I do, I'll want to keep it. It will also probably lose some value if I do.

Pros:
-Pistol is supposed to be low recoil, way lower at pf 130 with 9mm than my Glock .40 at pf 153 now (180gr at 850)
-Trigger is good, I don't mind my Glock 22 though, it's good after a full polish and 3000 rounds.
-I can cast my own bullets to make lots of cheap ammo for more practice. Even .40 tmj's are expensive at this volume.

Cons:
If I sell it, I can buy a progressive loader(I have use of one and I load single stage)
Already have a production class gun and I would have to buy 4 more mags and a holster, etc.


Should I try it out and maybe use it next season or just sell it because I already have a Glock 22. I won the GP6 btw.

I know I can be faster with lower recoil. I love the recoil, but it doesn't make me faster. Just makes the smile bigger.

And selling my Glock 22 isn't going to happen. I have grown to kinda like it.

I say shoot it. 50 rounds shouldn't de-value your gun any more than a drop in the bucket, and you'll probably regret it if you don't try it.

New guns drop in value as soon as they come home from the store. Shoot it! Well-maintained guns don't depreciate much after the initial hit on value. The only guns that are investments are collectibles like pre-war Colts and Winchesters.

Save up to get a good progressive press and keep your GP6 if you like it.
 
Because at the time I didn't want another 9mm :) I wanted a pistol I enjoyed shooting.

I did pretty well last year considering 95% of my pistol shooting ever was last year. Nick and Marcy taught me a lot and I did well, even with my .40

Screw it, I'm gonna go try it out. I might just love it and then have to sell something else for the press... like my m1 carbine, my 303, my goofy bolt action 12 gauge, my norinco pistol... there's options.
 
I know it has no collector value, but I bought my Glock 22 new in box, Just thought it might be a good thing.

Like I said, I'll give it a couple hundred round try... but then that means, more mags, holster, mag pouches... haha..

It never ends.
 
Hey, what's the worst that can happen? At worst or best, depending on your view point, you'll find that you prefer the feel of the trigger of a hammer gun and end up keeping the GP6 and sell the Glock?:D
 
The answer is shoot it. My buddy said he had a bunch of boxes of 9mm that wasn't match ammo and it had to get burnt up.. so I'll do it for him.

Tell you the truth, and I know some of you guys will #### on me for it. My Glock trigger is pretty good. It's had a few thousand rounds and a very nice polish. I found some ~3k grit stuff for buffing fingernails and I took a long time to do it. It turned out very well. The biggest issue is I need to lower down from 850 to ~750 fps with this bullet or go lighter to make my shooting quicker.

One of the main reasons I bought a .40 is my buddy that I got into handguns made me join IPSC. He's got a glock 17, so I bought the identical kit in .40. I even wear a shirt shooting sometimes with 2 monkeys, one with a little banana and a smiling monkey with a big one. says "Mines Bigger"... You gotta have fun. (and I beat him)
 
Buying a new gun and looking at it and wondering is the same as buying a new washing machine and looking at it and wondering.

Where's the fun in that?

Real up, and shoot the darn thing.

OOOOh it's winter here now, but i'm happy to report that it's not as cold or snowy as your getting.LOL!!
I expect you to dump your glock for the sti, but we shall see.
