I guess the other option is I could only shoot steel matches with it. Then I don't have to worry as much about points outside Alphas.

If you don't have one of the top Canadian Standard shooters in your area, you can win local matches in Standard shooting Minor - it's just a matter of dropping few points while shooting quickly.

Well, even though I hate to admit it I don't always shoot A's. Unfortunately, a few C's slip into the mix. Personally, I'm not a fan of the way IPSC has the standard division setup. Why even allow 9mm in Standard if there is no hope to compete based on the Power Factor? Standard needs to be split in some fashion, kinda of like Production and Production Optics. But I'm new to the sport so I'm probably not the best to comment on change. In the meantime, I'll just shoot for fun

Standard Minor makes more sense in countries where there aren’t mag capacity limits and the extra rounds in the mag make up for the minor scoring. Doesn’t make much sense in places like Canada or US states that limit mag capacity (hence Limited 10 division in USPSA).
