Ya gotta love it when you change out the sights on your rifle, tappin' them into position just
eyeballing them for alignment, then take a few pokes at 25yds to check and....Bingo!

That's how it went for me this mornin' while testing out my Rossi .45 Colt baby carbine.
I changed out the front sight for a Marbles .570" tall unit and swapped the rear sight
with a Marbles long blade Bullseye unit.

The wind was picking up with plenty of gusts but I went at 'er anyway.
I was using my light hunting load of 10.0gr of Blue Dot, held in place with a pinch of
kapok and topped with a 250gr MCE LSWC boolit. Here be the results....

Step 1...Unload the Zazzook.

Step 2....After setting up on the 25yd bench, take 3 shots at a previosly shot target and....Ta Da!
This was with the rear sight set as low as would go.

Step 3....Drag my stuff over to the rifle bench and after setting up there, and moving the rear sight up
one notch on the elevator (Confirming height by shooting a small rock), I then placed three shots at
75yds on a fresh target left behind by some other shmoe.
I feel this is acceptable accuracy despite the wind, the short sight radius and the frikkin' floater
in me shooting eye. Add to that, the bead of the front sight completely covers the center square!

Yep, I'm happy with this little bugger so far, but I will be honing the bead of the front sight to my
prefered pin style to better focus on the target. I'll get a cloverleaf outta this puppy yet.

Hey SHELL SHUCKER I have been meaning to ask you how you like the butt stock on her? I have been thinking about ordering a set from those guys for my trapper to replace the crappy factory stock. Was there much fitting and finishing needed?

I love the fit of the stock (PGW) and the brass butt plate adds a few ounces. For shootin' off the bench, that big
slab of brass digs into the shoulder a mite. I use a PAST recoil shield for bench work, but don't suffer none
when shooting offhand. I hand formed the plate and I still have to radius the edges to soften the contour,
but I'll get 'er done soon.

If you fit a Boyd's stock, it has a straight shotgun type butt and comes with a plastic butt plate
that is easy on the shoulder with warm loads. I got this setup on my Trapper .44mag., and it works great.
