Today I join the ranks!

Good Choice

You could do alot worse for a first purchase. I've put several hundred rounds thru my bud's 226/9 and 220/45 and found them to be so nice I was going to buy the 357/40 combo as I'm not a huge fan of 9mm. Aside from the $ the Sig's are SWEEEET!
Try not to show too much dissapointment when you get to shoot some other stuff at the range.
Congrat's from the Wet coast:pirate:

I ended up picking up a Glock 29 (10mm) :D

Congrat's, it's a very nice gun. I have just buy myself a P226 NAVY in 9mm, received it last week and only fire 100 rounds so far but i am already in love:D

Have fun and be safe!

I am resisiting the urge to buy anything else until I have mastered my sig! I have no doubt a bigger gun safe is eventually in my future.

It is always a thrill to get your first handgun. Makes you feel like a kid at Christmas time when that package arrives at your doorstep, or the dealer calls and says you can pick it up.

Nice choice. Now make sure to dry fire the hell out of the trigger. After about 4000 trigger pulls you'll have a very nice and Crisp trigger. Storing it with the hammer cocked will eventually help out the double action pull weight.

In all my searching I could not find anything bad about the 226 and after getting a chance to fire one...well...it was all over. Plus I got a great deal on it on the EE so I knew it was fate!

Thanks for the tips. Any other tips would be greatly appreciated!

OK, time for a reality break - as soon as you accept the fact that you're basically...well....screwed, the sooner you'll be like the rest of us. You will at some point in the "nearer than you think" future get to the point where that little internal voice says to you - Oooooh, I've just got to get one of those, and that's a great price, and besides I can buy new tires next month, these ones aren't THAT bad. Six months later, you're hearing it, for the tenth time, and you still have lousy tires :D Welcome aboard.
