Today i picked up a Weatherby SA-08 MAX-5 CAMO..."Roast Me"!!!!

Did you pay too much?

We have been selling these at work (all flavours of the SA-08) and the comments have been positive from those who bought them.

So back in November we were at a gun buyers show and ATA had their booth set-up along with the glossy posters of the "name brands" they produce and sure enough, they make the SA-08 for Weatherby.

They even have it available in their own model - the CY series.

So I order up a few in the three configurations - black, walnut and camo. They come in about a month ago and I finally get around to unpacking one and getting a good look. Nice shotgun. So I take the camo version out to the cabinets and put it beside the Wby SA-08 Camo. And I can't tell the difference. We take the pair out and compare them - damn, even the camo pattern looks like bookends with it beside each other.

There was only three differences that we saw. The first being the ATA in red letters where the other said Weatherby. The serial number was in a different spot on the receiver between the two. Oh ya, and the last difference was the pricetag with the ATA coming in at over $300 "less". So we ended up moving them a little further apart in the cabinet.

My daughter has the sa20 .it works Okay but we did have to send it in for warranty work within the first year.very few rounds

Am i missing something ?
Aren't these actually Pretty good shotguns for the money whether it says weatherby or ata? Have they had a lot of issues ?

Shoot me a PM concerning those ATAs. :)

Been a few on the skeet field I've seen. The 20s seem to run fine the 12s have had issues with the synthetic stocks cracking. I e seen one break the bolt lock but that was using steel waterfowl loads. All in all I think they're a decent gun. The wrist grip shape doesn't suit everyone though. That seems the biggest complaint

It’s interesting when people buy guns that are copies of major brands or simply built to lesser standards to keep costs down and profits high it’s about making money then want to be told what a great gun they bought
They are all entry level guns designed for a market of recreational shooters that’s what it’s about .
If shot extensively they will fail .

My son had a youth 20 gauge he killed a pile of geese and ducks with that gun never missed a beat we passed it on to my friend for his kids and it's still going
