The Barrie Gun Club decided in his General Asembly to continue to ban shooting alone:mad:

It's a great club, great infrastructure but I can hardly use it with this F@&# rule!....Therefore I am looking for a new (IPSC friendly) club in the GTA area. Any suggestions? Right now I am deciding between Sharon and Guelph.... Advantages? Disadvantages? What about the new club that was going to (re)open in Brampton?

holy sweet jesus, how ####ing stupid is that. Barrie is a beaut of a club, but obviously have some serious brain trust issues on their board. OOOH lets do the Liberals job for them.

now that there is no shooting on Sundays at Guelph either, I'd say
Sharon...

there no shooting on sundays at Sharon either:( why dont you come out and check Aurora gun club out

Is there a club in the GTA that will rent range time by the hour for non-members? I need a place to shoot pistols occassionally that's closer to home.

Shooting Alone

Gentlemen
I think that safety is something that shouldn't be overlooked. I can see the logic behind not allowing someone to shoot alone on a range. There have been some postings on Gunnutz about firearms blowing up due to ammunition problems and firearm failures. I personally know of one situation where a shooter at one club picked up a box of factory 44 mag ammunition at a gun show, and he blew up a Ruger Super Black Hawk. Someone had replaced three rounds of factory with hot reloads. I believe there is some sort of rule regarding the use of a lone shooter using a range, common sense, and the chance of legal action makes the executive of any club nervous. Most gun clubs in this area have rules regarding the same thing. If there are two or more people on the range one has to assume the position of range officer.

I think doesn't hurt to have 2 people at the range. Besides if an accident such as a gun blowing up happens at least the other person could call 911 if its necessary. You have to dive with a partner for safety, shooting together is a much safer way to shoot.

Just my 2 cents.

All true, but it should be a suggestion and not a rule. Gun owners abide by enough rules.

There are people in ontario right now shooting alone.
We are not making this up.:)

I always go shooting by myself but I let my wife know what range I am at and how long I will be.

I shoot every Sunday (and sometimes alone). I belong to the Orillia Gun Club right behind Ellwood Epps. Open every day from 10:00 AM until 10:00 PM (only shoot indoors after dark). We are just opening an action range (ready sometime this summer). PM me if you would like to come as my guest (I am on the executive). Oh and by the way only 25 minutes further up the highway from Barrie.

Aurora

I am pretty sure Aurora allows full members to shoot alone.

They are a 24 hour range (indoor) so it would be kind of awkward to find a partner if you're a shift worker and shoot at 3AM in the morning.

oh god, there are no reasons for people to not be able to shoot alone. More people die showering alone than have been hurt when shooting alone. So I guess you better have someone with you when you shower. Or better yet get one of those "I've fallen and I can't get up" necklace things. This is just more nanny state mentality at work.
