Hi

I cannot find any ammo anywhere for my Tokarev I think i made a mistake buying it.

every canadian dealer i have check with does not have it. Marstar says they are getting some at the end of the summer.

when i bought the pistol i did not realize how hard it is to find the ammo.

is there anyone out there who knows anyone in Newfoundland that is willing to sell some.

thank you so much

Well, there's got to be some ammo somewhere, but do hold on to your pistol until a few crates come around. Then, stack'em high, and you'll probably like that pistol a lot. I sure enjoy shooting with mine every time I bring it at the range.

you could try here...

I don't know about dealers on The Rock (NFLD for those of you
following along at home) but I used these from Henry N. in B.C.
(same bullets as in my pics):

1000 - Hornady 7.62X25 (.308) 86gr SPRN $16.25/100 (Tokarev TT-33 or Czech CZ-52 bullets) great price.

Henry has TONS of good prices on boxed and bulk bullets/brass.
(see here):

for primers: I used winchester small pistol for real 7.62x25mm brass
and small rifle for the .223 brass- worked fine in my TT-33 Tokarev pistol.
CCI would work fine too.

Good luck. :)

Lever Arms has a container of the stuff coming sometime in September, I hear. About $200 for 2000 rounds. I'm buying a pair of T-33s from them. At $180 each, you can't go wrong.

The dedicated Borchardt, Mauser, Tokarev and CZ-52 cartridges are all the same, for all practical intents and purposes. What DIFFERS is the INTENSITY of your loading: the pressure levels.

Running the Mauser round in a Borchardt will wreck it, over time. Running the Tokarev round in the Mauser will wreck IT over time and will wreck a Borchardt very quickly. Running the Czech round in a Tokarev is VERY hard on the gun, it will RUIN a Mauser in short order and it will DESTROY a Borchardt very quickly indeed.

But you can handload them all with the same dies, same primers, same brass, same slugs.

I got my first Tok, a Hungarian 48 that came out of Africa somehow, from Tom Bongalis in N. Vancouver back when I was running the newspaper in Lewisporte. At that time there was exactly zero ammo available anywhere in Canada... and certainly less than that in Notre Dame Bay. A talk with friend Neil Coffey at Gander Airport turned me toward .223 brass...... and it worked! One thing about using the .223 brass, though is that it is a little bit small and milspec brass doesn't have a lot of room in it: really easy to get pressures high enough to wipe the headstamps off the cases in about 4 firings. Tok took it, of course, but I DID learn.

Check out Lee Factory Sales; they send to Canada at Lee distributor prices. You can set up with a good basic handloading kit for under 100 bucks, 200 if you want to go progressive.

Have fun!

My buddy bought the Czech ammo BEFORE he got his Tokarev. He says it's an absolute joy to shoot, 2000 rounds makes for a lot of plinking!
I'd say go for it-they are dirt cheap pistols, and it's likely that ammo will be availiable in the future....
I picked up a Norinco 213 in 9mm-looks almost identical to a TT33, in fact it's possible to switch barrels to fire the 7.62x25R cartridge. Only cost me $99 form CanadaAmmo, when they had them in stock.

so if i use a .30 cal mauser 86gr SP RN projectile in a Tokarev 7.62x 25 brass with small pistol primers and a light load I will be ok?

also is there a mold i can get to mold my own projectiles?

TT-33 loads

so if i use a .30 cal mauser 86gr SP RN projectile in a Tokarev 7.62x 25 brass with small pistol primers and a light load I will be ok?

real Starline 7.62x25mm brass:
I used 5.2 - 6.0 grains of Unique with zero issues

with the .223 brass:
4.3 - 4.9 grains of Unique with zero issues

Just start low and work up in .1 or .2 grain increments

(can't help you on the mould for cast bullets- dunno)
