My tokarev TT33 is having an issue. When the pistol is fired, the hammer will not stay back. This only happens when the trigger is pulled. I believe there is something wrong with the sear inside, but I don't want to take it apart and not be able to get it back together.(weird springs) Does anyone know if this is the issue, I figure it is a broken sear, or a broken sear spring. Any thoughts?

The Soviet TT repair Guide tells me that this can be caused by several reasons:
1. Your disconnector is worn lengthwise. The Guide suggests comparing the length of the disconnector in question with the new disconnector, if practical.
2. There is a gap of more than 0.7 mm between the lower plain of the hammer group housing leafs and the upper plain of the frame. #### the hammer and by using a thumb push it upward together with the housing . Measure the gap, and if it's more than 0.7 mm, it could be one of the contributing factors...
3. As like you said, either tip of the sear or the main notch on the hammer is worn (rounded) The very same Guide suggests that a little bit of filing with a triangular file will remedy the problem.
4. The sear spring is weakened or broken.

In order to take the hammer group apart move the hammer back slightly, and while holding the hammer in that position push the sear pin out and remove the disconnector and sear. Then push the hammer pin out and remove the hammer together with the main spring. Put it together in a reverse order: insert the main spring into the hammer, line up pin holes on the hammer and housing and insert the hammer pin(not the easy procedure, but you'll figure it out:)). Then insert disconnector back where it belongs and once again, slightly move the hammer back and insert the sear in such a manner that the sear spring tip is tucked in the housing; insert the sear pin and you're all done.
