Hey guys im looking for a tokarev magazine catch, i have a tokarev that drops some of the mags i own upon pulling the trigger, hammer down, no round in the chamber, help? I only have problem with 2 of my mags the others are fine, the mags catch holes also measure out good but i still have problems with two of the mags, looking into the mag well i can see the catch, its small and might look chipped? I cant tell cause i cant find a good picture to compare it to.
Thanks for your time

You should take it out and have a look at it
You sort of press/tap/punch it out from the opposite side with an appropriately sized punch
If you modify said punch by dishing out the middle of it; it will work better

Also not a bad idea to do it inside a ziplock bag if your worried about the pieces flying
Good luck

Sometimes the small lip on the mag catch wears out. Or it could be that the mags are just a tiny bit dished or worn at the mag hole. You could try to bend out the hole with a pair of needle nose pliars on a mag and see if that solves the problem. Sourcing a mag catch might be a bit hard to find.

Yeah sourcing a mag catch is the nightmare i dont want. Ill be taking out the release this coming weekend. At worse its pooched and ill need a new one, heres hoping it wouldnt be too hard to make a new one if need be

I have one if you need, but I am sure it’s a mag thing. Use triangular needle file and go at 50 degrees inwards on mag holes. I had to do that with two Polish mags on my Russian Tokarev. I hope it helps.
