Tokarev malfunction

My Nork Tokarev is sick...and not in that new urban way of calling something cool either.

Every time I pull the trigger, it drops the mag. I thought maybe it was the mag catch, so I replaced that but it still happens. When I insert the mag, it seems to lock up. I can't pull it back out anyway. Pulling the trigger to the rear lets it go. It either loosens or falls right out.

Any ideas why it's doing this? I really don't wanna have to get permission to ship it back to Marstar, and then wait for them to fix it, and then wait for it to come home

desporterizer, new catch spring...I'll remember that.

Bbq, I'll seat it like a man and see what it does.

I had the same problem with my M-60 Zastava, which is the same pistol.
I found the catch was just on the edge and recoil released it. A few minutes with a very small file on the mag to clean the edges of the latching hole and another five minutes with a small fine stone on the release itself and it never failed again to latch correctly.
Just go easy and don't remove too much material. Clean and polish instead.
PP.

Thanks for the suggestion! Keepin that in mind.

It seems now that it works fine empty (I can pull the trigger without it dropping) but when the mag is loaded the act of strippin the round from the mag makes it drop out.

In that case your suggestion will still probably work...like you said, as long as I don't take off too much metal.

Otherwise maybe open the lips on the mag a little?
