Is there a material reason the pistol cannot be converted to 10mm?

10mm reaches pressures of 33,000 psi - less than 7.62x25's 36,259 psi

Also very similar speeds

Approximately double the bullet weight

To my simple mind it seems that the pistol should be able to withstand the pressure. Or does the bullet weight affect things negatively?

Obviously the conversion is not straight forward, the magazine is a little too tight for 10mm, the bolt face would have to be reamed out, the extractor adjusted... and the new barrel and bushing of course. What I really want to know is if the action s strong enough.

Apparently Yugoslavia (Serbia already by then?) took the tt design and modified it to use 10mm (Z-10) but the mods appear rather extensive... It's a pretty rare bird though, the video here shows the internals but isn't in English...

So... Will a tt-33 blow up if modified and rebarrelled? (I have a chinese tokarev with no barrel, I can do something interesting with it, understandably throwing a lot of good money after the bad ;) or just dispose of it, it really has no value otherwise...) Thoughts?

But will the action theoretically hold or blow? If theory doesn't support it then no sense trying. If it does, then why not - we are all in this for fun so money/time are just a means to an end.

38super is not much of a mod - just a purchase of a conversion barrel and completely reversible. Ammo is much rarer than 10mm.

before considering rebore/rechamber to 10mm - first to consider is it possible to feed the chamber without extensive modifications of the magazine, magazine well and frame. The rebarrel part is the simple part.
