Tokarev TT-33

Well I couldn't resist the price of these pistols any longer! I bought one the other day, although it has not arrived yet. I've done a search on them and the consensus looks to be that they are not all the accurate, but are pretty fun.

My question is whether or not they are worth reloading for, and if reloading can increase their accuracy by a decent amount? Or are they accurate enough with surplus? My definition of acceptable accuracy is a "group" at 25 yards maybe 10 inches in diameter from a well supported position.

If I was to reload where could I find brass? I've seen dies and bullets in the EE, and I see Tradex used to have brass.

Anyone in the Calgary area want to sell me just one box of surplus ammo so I can judge it's accuracy and whether or not I should buy a crate?

I'd say if you reload you'd better use a pistol in a more conventional cartridge like 9mm para or If you really want to shoot the tt-33 you could go back in time and buy one for 99$(or the easy way in the ee) in 9x19 .

You've got a few options.
-You could try to round up some new Starline brass, but it's fairly hard to find in Canada. Try Henry Nierychlo. He runs a for sale list in the reloading forum.
- Round up some new Sellier & Bellot factory brass cased ammo. It's good brass, but again, can be hard to find...and pricey.

I find that my TT33really flings the brass all over the place, and with a lot of force. I think it would dent the casings, making them useless to reload. You're better off just buying the cheap steel cased surplus ammo.....

There's a fellow I run into @ the range who had a shop (ARMco I think) smooth and tune his '33 and he reloads for it. He takes great pride in keeping up to the guys with the >$2000 race guns off the 25 yd line, with a gun he might have $700 into.

IMHO The '33 is like the SKS - half of it's charm is readily available surplus. When I can't get x39 and x25 by the crate anymore, the guns go away.

The cases out of my TT-33 have never been damaged, in any way...and if a case were to become dented somehow, resizing and fireforming would bring it back into shape.

Well the pistol came and I'm sure impressed! 1941 Tula just like my SVT-40, kinda cool to have two different firearms from the same factory in the same year. The stamped numbers on the frame, slide and barrel all match and one of my magazines matches, the other does not.

What a great deal, don't know how anyone could pass up one of these pistols at this price. As for the ammo situation I went and ordered 1000 rounds which should last awhile.

Makes me want to start a Russian collection, or at least have an example of each of their small arms from WW II. What else do I have to get (that we can own in Canada of course)?

SVT-40 and TT-33 down now Nagant revolver, MN 91/30, MN 38 and MN 44?
