anyone out there shoot a Tokarev? I've seen a couple around, and people seem to like them. is'nt the ammo tough to get though? 7.62 x 25?. They seem to be an inexpensive option for an auto pistol relative to most others.

I bought my Tok two years ago and have @1000 rounds through it so far. Ammo hasn't been a problem yet, usually some at Milarm. And yes, they are a great, inexpensive way to get into a semi-auto. Try taking it to the range and letting someone with a new H&K or a S&W MP-9 shoot it; to them its all fire-balls and fury!! Will generally hit what you point it at and, with mine at least, seems to have very few mishaps. The fit and finish is what you would expect from a wartime pistol that HAD to work, not pretty but functional. The only mod to mine was a slip-on Houge neoprene grip. Others who have the same pistol can't believe how much better it feels!

Mines a norinco but same s--t different manufactorer if you ask me. I've got the Tokegypt on with the improved grips(IMO) and a slip on improver too.

And yeah I think the 7.62 rd rocks too. Hard to find; maybe. I just bought the 2250 round crate, problem solved.
I wonder though if the Tok came in seperate sub-gun & pistol rds. A CF veteran told me CF used different rds for sub-guns and pistols, might explain why the 7.62's have such vooma when you light 'em up. It might also explain why the crated rds come on stripper clip; 'cause the pistol does not seem as though the strippers are made for it...

Norinco NP-17 '9mm Two-Tone' - I was looking to get this one. 199.99 is not abad price in my opinion for something i'd only take to the range and back.
Still trying to hunt down a GLOCK.

I thought about the two tone , then came to the conclusion it looked like a " Herb Tarlick " gun.
IMO, LOL, before the two-tone people jump all over me

The NP-17 is 9mm not 7.62x25 (but you pobably know that). I considered a tt-33 but the ammo price is going no where but up, and is getting harder and harder to find. Although I see frontier has some. The ammo was the biggest draw back for me - not that it doesn't perform - I just like the idea of being able to grab some ammo from the gun shop on the way to the range (instead of scouring the web for a new $400 lot shipped in from the czechs) Price per round is good though...

I decided 9mm was the way to go. It's kinda the 30-06 cartridge of the hand gun world - Tons of variants. In 9mm, I like the M 77B from norinco, but it's on a 6 month+ back-order. I settled for the 2 tone tt-33 mod (NP-17). Should be here soon!!

Get a 9mm barrel, & mags ($15 from Lever Arms) and you've got both bases covered. You may have to do a WTB on EE for a barrel.

With all do respect, this 6.62 x 25 ammo being hard to find is nonsense. They are everywhere! There was a brief shortage a year ago but they are everywhere these days. May become hard to find again, as is the case with all milsurp ammo, but pile up now. Frankly, so much of it is available that I am not even piling up.

TT-33 is the .22 of hand guns. Absolutely a delight to shoot and at 13 cents a squeeze, you will become a marksman, whether you want it or not! My 9 mm sits in the safe gattering dust.

Why buy a Norc. When the original Ruski is available for under $200? What is this addiction to cheap made in china Iron/ Damn Walmart....

Do the Chinese 9mm barrels and mags fit the TT33's?

I just ordered one from Weimajack.

Is there anyone in Winnipeg who has some 7.62 x 25 to sell??? PM me if you have some.

See Frontier and TEC for ammo. Norc 9mm barrel and 9mm mags fit. May need a barrel bushing or barrel mod.

Waiting for my Tokarev and crate of ammo to arrive from Tradex - great people to deal with. :)
Is all the ammo corrosive or is any non corrosive available?
To what extent do I have to clean / strip it after firing?
I guess I can't clean it like my SKS - boiling water down the spout eh? :p

It is so easy to dis-assemble that it'll make your head spin. No tools req'd; I can have my barrel out of an assembled gun and under the tap in the kitchen sink in about ...oh 45 sec's.
And it's not an "I'm that good story" it really is that easy.
Good luck & stay safe

I have owned a Tok for over a year now and have fired it on over 20 occasions. Close to 1000 rounds all together. Just regular cleaning afterwords with Hopps 9, but the same day. Same thing with my two SKSs. They haven't seen boiling water and any of these mambo jambo for long time. Just hopps 9 or benchrest, the same day. All 3 have shinier bores than the day I bought them.

Yes both ammos are corrosive, but a regular through cleaning the same day is more than enough to keep them happy.
