im thinking of getting a tokariev pistol. i read that if you get 7,62 you can convert it to shoot 9mm also. can someone explain how this is done or direct me to a thread about this i looked around and i cant find anything on this subject. i heard i can get russian model for about $200 new, from a local store...
thanks

Why not just grab the NP-17 from Marstar? It's already in 9mm and has a nicer grip then the standard Tokarov. I own a couple of these and they're great fun.

to DIRECTLY answer your question, the pistol comes in 7.62x25 and has an AUXILARY BARREL for 9mm - field strip the pistol, drop in the 9mm barrel, and you're done- i should imagine the russian model comes in 7.62 only, so you have to get a 9mm barrel

not that it has anything to do with the topic, where does one find 7,62x25?
Funny looking round for a pistol, I'd love to shoot one, but as usual none in my area so I'd have to buy a cheap tokarev to try it out :p

The 7.62 x 25 mags are not always reliable for feeding 9mm. You can get the mags with a filler bars at the back to hold the 9mm's a little further forward & feed 100%.

My 7.62 mags work fine ( actually one is 100% the other 95 % feeding ).

I've heard that you can go 7.62mm to 9mm but not the other way. I wish I knew for sure. I've got a Norc 9mm 201; and I'd love to be able to swap mags and barrel and have a 7.62 x 25mm. The orginal owners manual doesn't say about swapping, but it does say have one manual for both. Logicly that might mean the only difference is mag's and barrel.
Or it might turn into a small bomb...
Would love to hear about someone successfully having done it before attempting it myself.

are you talking about the chinese version from marstar?that would be cool as i got some 9mm. i would like to have both.

Marstar has 7.62 x 25mm barrels and clips, but it says Russian. Whether or not they are interchange-able... who knows?
I've heard that 7.62 is a hotter round (with a longer case which can cause ejection issues) than the 9mm. Would the 9mm be built to different spec's than the 7.62?
I'd think that Norcinco would use the same tooling as much as possible; but the slides and recoil springs...don't know for sure.

You might also have to change the barrel bushing. I did.
On the Norc 213's the ejection port is too small to allow 7.62x25 loaded cartridges to eject. If you don't open the port up, you have to remove the magazine and let the cartridge fall out through there. I haven't tried to shoot 7.62x25 in my Norc 213, but I have assembled it converted that way just for fun. The Pistol did cycle and go into battery. YMMV.
The 7.62x25 is a much hotter round than the 9mm.
Once I took out the spacer in the Norc mag well, my Romanian mags worked fine. I use them to shoot 9mm now, since I didn't bother putting that spacer back in the mag well. It is 100% reliable for me so far.

i got mine from lever, but it's the SAME GUN- t54- i believe the marstar came with only the ONE magazine, and lever is a heck of a lot closer to me- so if you figure in the price of the extra mag, the money is about the same- but the TIME waiting is reduced at least by half- as for the 9mm going to 7.62 , id depends on what thegun was originally chambered for- the 9mms have a spacer in the back of the well behind the backstrap to allow them to use a SHORTER magazine- you can also get a magazine with a SPACER behind the follower that accomplishes the same feat- but the gun itself is EXACTLY the same- ie switch barrels and you can go either way

Thanks for the help all, I ordered a barrel, link & 2 clips up this evening. If it works well I'll be sure to let you know. SKSman had a barrel for 30$ and clips for 15$, not much risk costwise.
