Posting this up here, as I figure it will get the most interest...
I'm bored and I've been looking at gun pictures on google. I also love the Tommy Gun and given the age discriminated licence I have, I won't be able to buy a functioning one. I've looked at the Ruger 10/22 kits and they are tempting.
Then I was looking at the AR180b, something that is also cool on its own. Not milsurp Tommy Gun cool, but cool none the less.
And then it dawned on me..... a Tommy Gun "upper" (for lack of a better descriptive term) looks an awful lot like an AR180b upper. Or vice versa given gun birthdays.
Now considering the 9mm ARs and their stick mags, and the availability of 9mm barrels for the AR, somebody has got to be able to have the skill to make a decent Thompson clone using an AR180b as a base.
