Hi Folks,

Quick question; I'm trying to appraise a 870 and with so many models around I'm having a hard time figuring out its value. Any tip will be appreciated.

The info on the receiver: "Remington 870 Magnum", and on the other side "Special Purpose". Takes 2 3/4" and 3" shells. The barrel is 28 inch, vent rib. Synthetic stock, matte metal finish. It has three chokes but I can't find the tool that is needed to change the choke (anyone has a spare one up for grabs?)

It was probably made in the 90's and can shoot steel. Given that the shotgun is in really good shape, what would be a decent price range? Thanks,

Lou

Did a little diggin, it was made in the late eighties early nineties, its a little more weather resistant than the express, they dont make that model anymore, as far as function goes, its the same as a wingmaster or that era. I would say depending on the condition 300.00 to 400 dollars , at the most. :D

Makes sense since I just sold a brand new never fired late 80's 3" wingmaster for 500 on EE. High gloss with super nice wood. Tried for 600 but no takers.:(
This would be a grade down at least from the wingmaster
The 3 1/2 matt finish like yours sells new for 369, so you are probally in the 300 range.

I believe that the Special Purpose models had a Parkerized finish instead of the matte bluing found on the Express. Some of them came with dull finished walnut stocks.
