Too much recoil...

Oddly, or perhaps not that oddly most of the big boomers aren't all that loud. Nobody is going to confuse them with a 22LR, but the big bores aren't very loud compared to the small magnums.

I agree. My big bores didn't bug me much when I was younger as far as noise, but after 35 yrs. of working with high pressure air systems, every unprotected high density sound is a damage on the ears, never mind workin'
as a Pyrotechnician on the side.

Yeah, that's me under a 1/2 pounder helmet bomb.

Always amazes me how many people are scared of rifle recoil, but own a 3" 12ga pump gun or a 3-1/2" even. Both of them with 1-3/8oz loads and up are heavier recoiling than most non ultramag type guns up to the 375H&H, and some a bit bigger than that.

For some "clean kill" means not having to walk more then a few feet from the truck and get mud on the boots.

IMHO quite a sad departure from where we once came from...

Recoil is felt differently in different shooters hands/shoulders. I shoot 12ga 3.5" loads or my 30-06 and it is very tame. I have never been sore from shooting these. I have shot a .338WM which will be my next purchase, and I found the .338 more then reasonable. No issues, no bruises. Fired off a whole box. Clearly well below my threshold, and no, I'm not a big guy. 5'11 170lbs
