Took apart my 10/22...

So it started with a Volquartsen target hammer, bushings, spring and bolt release ordered from Brownells. Knowing nothing about disassembling my 10/22, I jumped right in! Took a solid 90 minutes and a moderate amount of swearing, but I literally took every last piece apart. It wasn't intentional mind you. Superb learning experience though. I feel much more confident about it now.

I found the following YouTube video quite helpful!

Now to hit the range tomorrow and hopefully everything is a-ok.

A digital camera is a good tool for the bench if you are one of those take it apart to see how it works types . Take a picture as you remove each pin / spring/ screw and you will have a handy reassembly guide when it all goes to the crapper and you cant remember if it was the short pin or the really short pin that went in that particular hole .

You are absolutely right! However, by the time that thought occurred to me, I had most of it apart and couldn't remember reassembly ha. I suppose the important thing is - I didn't have any left over parts

I sure hope so! Trigger pull feels lighter, that's a good start. Not sure what's next. Bull barrel and new stock in the near future, but I'll probably hold off until I get more familiar with the internals a bit more.
 
LMAO @ taking pics. Yeah I guess it would help in some circumstances, but I also just bought a ruger 10/22. I tore into the action without having a clue. I love tinkering and good at it. Well, here is where taking pics wouldn`t have helped.....Taking the trigger out of the action....both little springs went flying. Thanks god I found them!!!! I wasn`t sure with the different lengths though, I just used the longer one on the plunger and the shorter one where the sear is. It seems to be working!!.
