Actually, that's not true. I also got a few pictures. You can check those out while you're waiting for the videos to download. Shouldn't be too long if you've got a decent connection. ;)

Anyhow!
Took the girlie out for an afternoon of shooting, south of Shawnigan Lake. In some of the pictures and videos, you can see downtown Victoria in the top right corner of the screen. Mount Baker WOULD be on the left, but it got clouded out of view.

This is probably the nicest place to shoot in all of the Southern Island, but they are going to be building houses on the property in a few months. We won't be allowed to shoot there once that starts. Damn you Timberwest! They're taking away our entire country...damn American Corporations.

That is what we shot with. The .22 Anschutz to get the basics down, and the No.1 Mk3 because we're Canadian and she's Japanese. And we don't shoot silly Arisakas when it matters. :cool:

Anyways...she likes shooting the .22. Didn't really like shooting the No.1 Mk3 (chosen because its the weapon used by Canadians in WW1, and she has a picture of the soldiers memorial just outside the Victoria legislature on her calendar, and sure enough, he's got a No.1). She only likes shooting it a few times, after that it's too much for her shoulder. But she LOVES listening to it go bang. She mainly likes shooting .22. So I think I may have recruited a semi-gunner, and a full time spectator. It works out for me, that way I have less ammo I have to buy for her. I'm a great dutchman, what can I say?

In the videos you should overhear me say "It's a single stage trigger". You did not mishear me. For some reason, my No.1 is a single stage. Were any of them designed this way? The sear on my gun looks normal to me. :confused:

Oh, and you should also hear me say "Don't be scared of it. It doesn't hurt...it just kicks yah". :D

Very nice pix! I'm surprised you guys didn't flush out any island bears! I heard they are everywhere? :D BTW, cute cat.
 
If you have a single-stage trigger on the old Lee-Enfield, there's something wrong. The "drag" trigger was standard on these..... all of them.

Next time you have the rifle apart, check the appearance of the trigger itself, the part that is inside the rifle. There are supposed to be two lumps on it, and when you press the trigger, first one lump engages, then the second, then the rifle fires. Likely, your first lump is ground too low and only the second is working, giving you a single-stage trigger.

Alternately, it IS possible that there is nothing wrong with your trigger mechanism at all...... and that you have a wobbling bolt bent, caused by the firing-pin of the rifle being fractured INSIDE the cocking-piece. This is potentially a dangerous situation (I know: I've had this problem).

Have the rifle checked by somebody who knows the Lee rifle.

As to the GF, it is possible that she will turn into a real whiz with a .22, which is a lotta fun and, ya gotta admit, far cheaper than if she fell in love with a Bren gun! Get her an Arisaka so you can both play...... but be prepared to get your butt shot off: those things can really shoot.
I'll bet my cat is almost as spoiled as yours!

I'll get it checked by my amateur gunsmith friend. He should be able to diagnose the problem.

I love him so much though! We got him from the SPCA, about a week before they were going to put him down. They only keep animals for about a month and a half, before they put them down. If nobody will take him/her by a month and a half, they usually give up on the animal and make room for another. It's sad. But we got Max just before they could have potentially put him down.

And what makes the story even more sad, is the fact he's so big, he could barely move around the cage. He was in there for well over a month. Torture for a cat. :(

But now we've got him. And he's as innocent as could be. Our other cat likes bugging him, he just likes eating and sleeping and getting his belly rubbed. :D

Sorry Calum. I kinda only really told Claven2 about that, and that was that. I've got a video post that I'm currently making. Think of Wally's Europe thread, except cooler presentation (and a slightly less amazing trip).

But yeah, I bought a No1, No4, 12 gauge sxs (that I'm trying to sell!), .22 single shot, P17 and a gun safe. I'll be going into better detail about it when I finally get the video done. I'm working with my friend on it, and it's looking like it should be getting done by the end of the week.

Hahaha! Furry pillow that you feed! I'll remember that one. I've been calling him panzer tank for a while, since he's so big.

And you think she's cute? Wait til you taste her cooking. I'm only 20, and she's already cooking me dinner at her place, and making me lunches for work...I'm set for life. :cool:
