So i should start off by saying that Ive never shot a rifle.
As per majority of your suggestions, i took the ORA course and I'm glad i did. They taught us the different disciplines which we can branch out into, they taught us the proper shooting position for prone shooting, breathing techniques, they taught me something Ive been dying to learn which is MOA settings of a scope, and they even fed us, what more can i possibly want?
After the in-class lesson, we went to the indoor heated shooting range, (my first time ever in one), and we got to practice what we were taught in class. My instructor was kind enough to let me use his rifle because i still haven't purchased one yet. He went first and shot at our targets at a 50 yard mark to make sure it was zero`d in, and i jumped into position after.
So my initial feelings behind a rifle:
first thought - Don't Embarrass yourself.
second thought - Don't break your instructors rifle.
First Round
(target in middle of Bristol Board)
Instructor fired 3 to make sure rifle is zero`d
Second Round
(target on bottom left corner of Bristol Board)
I Fired my first three into this target
Third Round
(dialed the Vertical MOA dial up 8 minutes still aiming at bottom left target)
Fourth Round
(dialed the Horizontal MOA dial right 8 minutes still aiming at bottom left target)
I didn't realize that the Bipod Swivels on the instructors rifle, and i was shooting a fairly off angle rifle. The instructor brought it to my attention when he realized that his rifle was taking a nap mid air.
Fifth Round
(dialed the Vertical back down to 0 and kept Horizontal at 8 still aiming at bottom left target)
Sixth Round
(Kept the vertical at 0 and dialed the Horizontal back to 0)
Fired an additional 3 rounds into that target, i think.
All in all, lots of fun, cant wait for next class
