Some will flame, some will praise. I'm pumped , Ordered my 700 in .308 from Wolverine today. Was hoping to get the AICS 1.5 FDE as well but they are backordered until August sometime. I will see how she shoots OEM in the meantime.

Just need to get her her own glass now........

Congrats, excellent platform to start with. I bought a 700 5r .308 last week and my glass is en route from Jerry. It's already sitting in a B&C A5 that I got from another nut.
I don't want to rub it in ;) but it sure looks purdy sitting next to my 700/AICS .223 :D

Funny you mention that. My 700/.223 sits in a B&C.

I went with the SPS-AAC. Threaded barrel and 1:10 twist was what sold me. Paid $672. I figure I can sell the Green Hogue stock for a few bucks before I get the AICS.

P.S. I'm a Suby guy to.

I'm in the same boat... almost.

I am on the verge of picking up a Remington 5R in .308

good choice. get out there and get shooting and spend less time here!:)

LOL. I would, but they can't ship it until Monday:(

Besides, I still need to put some glass on it. I was thinking a Nightforce NXS 5.5-22x56. But is that too much glass ($$$) for my rifle? If there is such a thing.

Here's what I will have.

700 SPS-AAC
Badger Thruster brake
Harris 6-9 S-Pod
AICS 1.5 - In August
EGW 20 MOA base
Rings - not sure I do have an extra set of Burris XTR
Scope - TBD

Nothing wrong with the 700, my last 2 could chamber no go guages and had to be sent back for replacement, but I've heard they are slowly getting there quality control better. 'Cause we all know it is a good platform.
Hope you enjoy your new gun! Time for me to order something new too!

i have built hundreds of rifles on remington platforms for customers over the years and they are the best bloody action out there as far as i am concerned which is whay most custom actions out there are basically fancified remingtons. their barrels are no better or worse than any other and I call absolute bull#### if someone tells you that a savage or browning or whatever shoots better. take a hundred of each and they will all have their share of duds, hummers and middle of the road guns. i dont know of any gunsmiths that wont work on a remington but some including me wont waste time on a savage.

Good to see some support behind this rifle. I have the same rifle sitting at the shop, I am waiting for my PAL to show up so I can pick up the rifle.

The list of things one can buy and add themselves is a little scary. The price just keeps going up!

There is never such a thing as to much scope. Good quality optics will last. They can go from gun to gun. You can't hit it if you can't see it and there is level of quality, reliability and repeatability that high quality scopes bring to the table. As for which scope, I have had 4 nigjtforces. They are a great scope. People ate saying good stuff about sightrons. I have looked through a few but never shot with any....the list of quality optics can go on...vortex, premier, S&b, march.....you always do yourself a service by putting good quality optics on your rifle.

So your the guy who bought that stock:)..I missed it by that much!!! I was going to put M5r into it as well..the OP will not be dissapointed in that purchase.

Hey BLACKBRIAR when I said I had a couple of remmy duds (3 actually) I was only chatting that I've heard they are getting the stuff together again, was Not trying to bum you out or start a anything bad. I think you choose an awesome rifle! To paperslayer if your rant was at me yes they are a great platform but they had more duds lately than they should and more than others. Yes they all have some, it is to be expected with any mass maketing.

I'm not a troller and only wish the best to you on your new toy! I've heard nothing but good things about the R5's. I built my 6br on a Remington.

So good luck gents and I hope you enjoy your new rifles, I'm sure it will be awesome!:)
