Well after alot of research I made the decision to buy a Norc. I bought a 2007 M14S in the usual deal with two mags and a sling/cleaning kit. It was smothered in some sort of heavy oil. Cosmoline I suppose. In any event I cleaned it up and was worried the whole time about cheap Chu wood and poorly indexed barrels etc etc. I had read too much and was convinced that my new rifle would require some immediate gunsmithing to make it right. Well I got it clean and found that the barrel was indexed properly, the wood stock cleaned up very nicely and is quite acceptable as a mil surp stock. The rear sight was set dead centre in its base and when I fired the rifle I only had to move the rear sight up a little to bring it dead on. I was using GI brass with a decent load of 4064 and 150 PSP Hornady bullets. (the charge was lowered 3 grains due to the thicker military brass) the rifle shoots wonderfully and I wished I had boughten one much sooner than I did. It is stock and will remain stock for shooting and hunting. If you are looking to buy a Norc first time just do it. You won't regret it.

regards, Darryl

Glad you like the rifle. I bought my rifle well before I found this site and any other M14 info sites. My original one is made a shorty, and then I wanted a long one again so I bought another. Now I'm at 4 rifles. It'll become an addiction. I dont have enough money to soupe them up so I jus get lots of ammo and shoot and not worry about what the critics have to say.

Congratulations on your Norc! :dancingbanana: Yours sounds as good as mine. I had mine to the range last Sat. and was very pleased with it. Wish I had bought 2. Best damn rifle for the money, period! Good luck and happy, safe shooting!

I just got one too. I paln on getting mine well worn and very used. BTW, a synthetic stock does help allot. The chu wood reacts too much to humidity and temperature. I held of for awhile changing the stock, but I got tired of the rezeroing my rifle every time the temperature changes.
