i was reading again the marvelous book of charles sheldon The Wilderness of the Upper Yukon father of the denali park.

i was amazed to read about the 256 mannlicher and selous mentionned as well in his book about mr sheldon being that good with the little mannlicher and grizzlies.

i cant imagine how the evolution has put us with so many gears.

luckily for selous and sheldon no internet nor cgn lol ...
 
I've seen other mentions of that caliber from the early days, among pioneers around here, with some sophistication, must have been a popular choice.

the first 256 mannlicher like the one used by sheldon was a 6.5x53r, the more known next 256 mannlicher was the 6.5x54 few years after used by percival,hemingway or bell. and among the same time the 6.5x55se had a longer life up tp this day.
