Tool shipped with my Marlin XT-22TR - what is it?

This tool was taped inside the box of my new XT22TR

It's a bit bigger than a quarter.

I have read the manual 2 or 3 times, and can find no mention of it.
What is this tool, and what is it used for ?

That looks like a generic trigger lock key. Is there also a black plastic two-piece lock, with a bolt in the middle?

No - it came with a cable lock which has a regular key.

It does highly resemble the key for them cheapo plastic threaded trigger locks
as mentioned in post numero deux.
