i saw this particular tool on wild tv one afternoon, now cant find what its called or any info anywhere on it.
long story short... its a cork-screw looking unit that you put in the deers behind, twist away and pull out. then you just have to tie it off. anyone see these or ever heard of using them?
just curious...

This what your thinking of?

Butt Out Big Game Dressing Tool

Revolutionary simple tool that takes care of the trickiest part of field dressing game. Quickly and easily allows you to disconnect the anal canal from deer and other big game. A must for the field!

It works well. Another site I'm a member at made a video demonstrating it's use on a doe he shot last year. Once you get past the "That's gotta hurt!" part, it allowed the rectum to be pulled and tied easily. It was cleaner than I thought it might be too.

would you really lug that junk around. Get a good knife and leave the gizmoos and do dads for the next sucker in line.

Just another piece of crap to carry around...Just use a knife like the thousands of other hunters. Most times I don't even tie-off the butthole when I'm gutting deer. :)

I agree, every extra thing that rattles, clunks, pokes, weighs or leaks I leave behind. binoculars, lock back knife and an extra cartridge in the other 3 pockets.

Gutting a deer cleanly is not difficult, but maybe the idea is daunting?

I dont' use one either...good old knife for me. BUT...I have read a fair bit about guys who love them. Not for me but apparently they work very well.

I have used one before and it works like a dream. It's not that big. No bigger than a Swiss army knife. It's simple and pretty neat. If you find one on sale try it but there are other ways.
