Toolbox ####....

Why would anyone lock a garbage can?

To simplify, why not put your proper locked case INTO a cardboard box from the grocery store (liquor store not so good for obvious reasons) or pharmacy.

Older box showing signs of being out in the weather or use would be even more stealth.

I like armedsask's idea, a locked garbage can, nobody will steal a garbage can.

Obviously you havn't spent much time in a large city have you? Nothing is untouchable, unless it's bolted to the floor, and even then....:(

I said nothing of a garbage can. I put my guns in a garbage bag.

Actually, I never use guns cases. I have two I think, they collect dust under my bed.

why has no one ever suggested drive a hearse and use a lockable casket as a trasporting contaier christ you could stack at least 50 or 60 if you set it up right and who in there right mind would even attempt to steal a casket

jeez ! All my old retired neighbors would think death was just a week early if I drove down the alley in a hearse

Around here, there's a good chance people might think your transporting ZOMBIES! and light you up!:D

Ever thought that a thief is more likely to steal a tool box then any other container seen in your vehicle, except maybe a purse?

If you really want to be inconspicuous, get a diaper or baby luggage bag. These things are huge, have multiple compartments usually lined so they don't 'leak', padded and some even have sturdy sides. You can of course build them up inside to suit your needs.

Believe me that no one will ever look in that for our toys. Throw in a kids seat in the back for perfect cover.

I just love the mental image of seeing some of you guys carrying around a diaper bag full of ammo and a firearm... hahaha :D

Who'd steal a casket? Crikey, let's go back to the locked garbage bin debate....

A casket is worth huge money... Here in Vancouver, the meth-heads would happily try to rip it off, dump the contents, and resell it through the back door of a "hotel" pub in order to be able to score another hit...

Trust me, I have seen stranger things!

The only firearms that ever get left unattended in any vehicle of mine, are actually cable locked into the trunk ... But I do that about once every decade! The average four year old around here can break into a car, just to see if there's anything in the trunk.

Not that I'm bitter... much.

:)

I use double walled protection on my gun always. That way nothing gets damaged when I sneak in the back door after a long day of shooting - Its a tight entry.

hmm /i can see sask takin the chicks campin... a flat beer and the 180b in the garbage bag - classy all the way and it doubles as rain gear! :D

I had a dead hooker joke to append but I didn;t think it was appropriate given edmontons recent attraction to ### trade workers.

This is what I carry my Lewis Gun in.
The neighbors haven't said a word:D

rifle case

For information purposes only.

It is a criminal code violation to disguise a firearm case.

That being said I carry my firearms in soft cases carried inside a large duffle.

I too would like to see where it states that. The law simply states that it has to be transported in a case that cannot be easily broken into, while being rendered inoperable (trigger lock). Or something along those lines for a restricted firearm that is.

I'm afraid you are misinformed. Check the Canadian Criminal Code online regarding firearms and you will NOT find that there. HOWEVER, it is a Criminal Code offense to alter or deface the serial number of a firearm or wear a disguise to conceal your identity in the commission of a crime.

108. (1) Every person commits an offence who, without lawful excuse, the proof of which lies on the person,
(a) alters, defaces or removes a serial number on a firearm; or
(b) possesses a firearm knowing that the serial number on it has been altered, defaced or removed.

2) Every one who, with intent to commit an indictable offence, has his face masked or coloured or is otherwise disguised is guilty of an indictable offence and liable to imprisonment for a term not exceeding ten years.

R.S., 1985, c. C-46, s. 351; R.S., 1985, c. 27 (1st Supp.), s. 48.

THT: Could you please advise what section of the CCC allegedly states it is illegal to disguise a firearms' case? IF it is anywhere, I would have thought it was in the Firearms' Act, rather than CCC?

On the other hand, Spreading False News IS still in the Criminal Code, Sec 181, BUT, as we would have difficulty proving your intent, we probably won't have the CGN legal team attempt to appeal to Crown to forward charges.

;)

Cheers,

i have photoshop 9 cs2 and it has that function as well as a few other things like smile maker :D

I too would be interested in seeing the chapter and verse on this.

I'm not disguising a guncase as a toolbox. I'm simply adapting a toolbox for use as a guncase.

Semantics I'm sure, but if faced by a judge in a court of law, I would make my case that I am doing my part to be inconspicuous in transporting my restricted firearms, and doing my best to reduce the threat to myself and my family from someone wishing to steal them from us.
