Top 10 Reasons Why You Should Shoot IDPA

Since then you've never approached me or anyone else in ATHL about joining.

This a complete lie.

I talked to you personally about joining in on a introductory shoot in Olds.

I was invited via email for a shoot/introduction to rules day in Olds. I drove two hours to be told by you that I could not participate. Thinking that you had enough people that day, I asked you if I could join the league. You told me no. I asked you again to clarify. You replied "No. I really don't think so. Sorry". This conversation occured in front of a couple peace officers. maybe I remember it all wrong but I can ask them to confirm.

I can't tell you how to run IDPA or your personal business. Just don't lie to me or call me a liar.

I stand behind all statements that I have made about IDPA. Good luck, I wish I could be apart of it too, but I really don't think I would want to be apart of it anymore.

Well, before you libel me by calling me a liar on a public forum (and then admit that you may not remember what happened) you should follow your own advice and confirm with those peace officers....

...otherwise, keep your accusations to yourself!

Well I have to respond to "D" on his post about not being able to join the IDPA clinic in Olds. I am one of the two police officers that attended. We where all told of the start time. I recall "D" showing up late around 2 hours into the training session, about 10 or 11 am. I didn't know who you where at the time, but after a very brief conversation with Mass, you turned and left. From what I heard you asked what we where doing and Mass told you a skills clininc and the bay was being used. You then turned and left. That's all I heard. No one said you couldn't join us. Now being the Vice-President of Alberta Tactical Handgun League and an IDPA sanctioned club, you are more then welcome to join us and shoot IDPA. This was a miss understanding, and we need to be adults about it, put it behind us and move on! Water under the bridge! So by all means "D" contact me on this site or on the ATHL site and I will make arrangement for you to join in a great sport! And now I hope this matter is put to rest!

Now that Tanner51 has replied perhaps it is time to exchange phone numbers via PM and settle this off the board. Seems to me there is a significant misunderstanding here which is serving nobodys interest. You all live in Calgary so it can't be that difficult to manage.

D_ as indicated to you by PM it is not necessary for you to join the ATHL to be a member of IDPA but if you want to shoot with them you will likely have to join their club. The ATHL is one of three affiliated IDPA clubs in Alberta. It is however the closest to you at the present time.

or have they designed it to be more "fun" than "competitive"?

Yes, that's him. No, it's not hard to shoot safely. Yes, Dave's matches are designed to be fun. You can still be hyper-competitive and obliterate the competition if that's your thing, but you'll be accepted if you're just shooting safely for fun.
