I think both Elk and Stone sheep are by far the tastiest... I voted Stone Sheep as even though I would agree Moose is very Canadian, Stone is even more so since it is ONLY found in the frozen north. It also has made for some of the most memorable hunts I will ever have, along with Elk, in Canada that is.

That being said, it is Moose that keeps my freezers full every year as I no longer live in Elk country.

I voted for Whitetail Deer just because more people chase them more of the time thany any other big game animal. I love my moose hunts and going after big mulies, but at the end of the day I've spent more time, energy and money chasing whitetails than any other species of big game in Canada. Not everyone can afford a flyout Moose hunt or a guided sheep hunt, but any prospective hunter can afford an old .303 or 30-30, abox of shells and a deer tag. That's what makes the Whitetail the greatest big game species in North America.

Didn't vote, my favorite animal to hunt is Antelope. I also find them one to be one of the tougher hunts.

My grandfather told me of hunting speedgoat's in the 1910 or so era. He said all you had to do was drive a little stake in the ground, hang a red hanky on it, walk 20 yds away, and sit down. Within a half hour they'd come up to it to check it out. Those days are gone. ;)

I voted Elk, there is nothing like the thrill of a big bull coming in close and bugling looking for a fight. Moose and whitetail are also a good hunt as well but for me Elk is king.

Moose, as you can find them pretty much right across Canada, and that gives the moose it's Canadian-ness. Moose are not exotic but there available to hunters almost right acroos the country.

I am all in for Bighorns as number one. That said Moose for me is a close second, followed by the Mule Deer.
I can see a great case for Thinhorns and Grizz as well, so it's all a matter of Opinion in the end!

I think one thing we can all agree on is that we are lucky to have opportunities to hunt such a variety of big game animals.

Okay - more than 7 YEARS elapsed between post #44 and #45. This clearly wins the necro-post of the millenium award. :)

Tried to vote, but realized I voted already over 7 years ago. ;)
